In August of 2008 the Bank of America really ripped me off. Let me explain. I only had $1100 in my checking account. I gave the card numbers out to the wrong

person. He charged some computers out at Bid/orBuy, a South African based company in the tune of $2400. The Bank of America approved and paid for this transaction and said my check card was overdrawn by $1300. The Bank

of America says on it's website that it's Visa check card is not a credit card. So if it's not a credit card and there are only two types of cards, it must be a debit

card. Upon talking to a Bank of America customer service representative, she told me that Visa doesn't have the account value of the checking account but

verifies that the account is up and running. I thought a debit card is not a credit card. A debit card is only good until the account value goes to zero. I didn;t think that Bank of America had the power to do this. To charge your debit card as a credit card.

Upon talking to the service representatives at Bank of America they say it is right to not know the balance of a person's checking account and overdraw a person's account value. In other words the Bank of America is lending the person the value of the overdraft. But I never had overdraft protection. At least with a credit card you can inspect the goods and make a return. I never received any merchandise. I never entered into any kind of loan agreement with the Bank of America and never even requested a loan.

In my opinion letting Visa, a credit card company, approve and pay for a debit card transaction is one of the worst things an institution can do to an individual.
