Complaint Review: BareBone Publishing - Mcdonough New York

Michael Sayles is not an inmate. He's not a felon. He's not defined by any one thing he's ever done in his life. People make mistakes and commit "crimes" which later become legal like brandishing a knife to protect a friend. I figure Dustin is still a d****e bag because you can fix stupid...

The book itself proves it was half a** publishing. Poetry doesn't require much editting. and we formatted the book prior to publishing. This was a simple job. And was LATE... hence the complaints by my hisband the author.

Records can be sealed and/or expunged...

Yes this book was published AFTER we made many complaints including the original RIPOFF REPORT. To date, Michael has not received monies from any book sold anywhere other than by him personally. SO... who did all these people pay for my husband's book.

I could provide newspaper article that supports this information.

Here is the book. It is very much real and was printed. All claims on this post are false and are indismissable. Public Records prove it.

No criminal history exists. FBI background check shows a clean slate. Ripoff Report is a scam site used to bully individuals into paying money to the site for removal of such negative posts. People can make up whatever they want and ripoff report will post it. I know this for a fact because I rent a property to Mr. Warburton, and when I did his background check no such history exists  This is Slander, and I feel sorry for those who have nothing else better to do than to try to damage the well being of others.

Dustin Warburton AKA James Burton, who is also the one responding with ALL of the comments with MORE fake names had also been arrested for extortion in the state of VT. He was found guilty and was on probation for four years. He wasn't even allowed to leave the state without permission. He cannot be trusted. 

Here is a photograph I recently took while in the McDonough General Store. Michael Sayles, book, IN MY BLOOD, is clearly for sale in the store, and has been on the shelf for several years. The stores owners were very upset when they found out what Mike did in slandering barebones, and Mr. Warburton's name. Michael Sayles was in fact an INMATE in Arizona.

I assisted BareBones Publishing as an editor/designer for the publication of four books, one of which was IN MY BLOOD, written by Michael Sayles. This was the worst project I have ever worked on, mainly because the author was trashtalking everyone prior to the books release. When Mr. Sayles started making claims against BareBones the book had already been formatted, edited, and was in the hands of the printer. I remember having to edit the book several times in order to make it print ready as the author truly did not understand the basic principles of English composition. I did not understand why the company even wished to publish the book, but my understanding of the agreement was they were doing the book as a favor to Mr. Warburton, who had previously known Michael as a child. Since BareBones was excited to publish Mr. Warburton's work, they had agreed to help Michael as a personal favor. This in turn backfired, and taught us all a lesson in not only politics, but in common sense as well. IN MY BLOOD was printed in PA, and was dispersed to Mr. Sayles. The book is currently for sale in the McDonough General Store, in N.Y. I was recently notified by Mr. Bowers and Mr. Burton in regards to this claim, therefore I am stating my case regarding this book and I am setting the record straight. Thank you for your time.

My name is Tony Bowers and I work as a literary agent/talent manager. When I started in December of 2009 James Burton was preparing to leave New York as he was graduating college, and I am now working with several of his clients. I must say I enjoy working in this business as it is difficult, and sometimes challenging, but very rewarding. I've helped several people publish their books through BareBones Publishing, and we have nothing but good things to say about them. The first project Iwas involved in when I started assisting James was IN MY BLOOD, written by Michael Sayles. It was a very difficult project as the author was badmouthing everyone on the internet prior to the books release. The books were printed, dispersed, and we never heard anything from Mr. Sayles ever again. I most certainly got a crash lesson in the business!!! IN MY BLOOD is for sale in the McDononough General Store, and at this time, his book is no longer available on his website because it was shut down for reasons unknown.

I'm writing in reference to the above claim. My Fiance is James Burton and he previously worked for PBP Management in assisting meetings and appearances for the various clients they handled. I recently came upon this post and felt I should say something. He helped PBP Management for roughly a year while he was finishing up his Degree. I've also contacted the McDonough general Store, and the book is INDEED on their shelf, and has been for quite sometime. Thank you for your time.

In My Blood, written by Mike Sayles is for sale in the McDonough General store. I am a school teacher in upstate NY. The owners said the book had been on their shelf for over a year and a half. I noticed Mike sayles took his website down, and I also spoke with the store's owners, and they mentioned they had no idea Mike was slandering Mr. Warburton claiming the book was never printed. The book is very much alive, and available for purchase, although I would not recommend it due to the fact Mr. Sayles was an inmate and degraded Mr. Warburton on this nonsense site.

I walked into the mcdonough general store last year and bought a copy of IN MY BLOOD. I must say, the book is very much real, and was for sale in the McDonough General Store. I'm not much of a poetry fan, but I am a fan of Warburton and Gorman's work which was the only reason I checked out this book in the first place. I've been reading all of Warburton's work ever since he came out with his first book, and by the way I think it's crazy that inmates can slander good people, especially on sites such as these. I've spoken with several people from McDonough that know the author that initially made these claims about Warburton, and to say the least, it was verified he was in prison in Arizona when these claims were being made, thats why most of the claims were posted by his girlfriend, because inmates cant access a computer. If I would of known that I would have thrown IM MY BLOOD away as I have no urge to read something an inmate wrote. And I can't believe the McDonough store even sold this book!!! I guess thats the mistake Warburton made in helping an old friend, but ya know, we learn from our mistakes. Keep up the good work Warburton and Gorman, and I'll be waiting for your next release!!!! And do yourself a favor, dont help crazies ever again, even if you did know them as a child....lol

I am avid reader of Dustin Warburton's work and my children have enjoyed his school visits year after year. In response to this negative remark about our VERY OWN local author and literary advocate, I am posting this response from MICHAEL SAYLE'S website:

People like this ruin it for the rest of us who look to our local authors for help and support when it comes to breaking into the industry. From what I hear, Dustin is no longer helping anyone publish their work due to the stress he endured from dealing with 1st time authors with absolutely no experience. With this being said, at least we can count on Dustin coming back to the area to visit with our children in our schools with his own work, thats one thing he said he will never stop doing!!!!  

In reading this claim I must say that ripoff report is privately owned and it exploits people that may not always be right, or guilty. I will say this, I know Dustin Warburton to be a very good father and a good man and by saying this I will put my reputation on the line as I am now representing him as his literary manager. In addition to this claim, I have nothing more to say other than the books were printed, dispersed, and are for sale in upstate New York. I have spoken with the store owner that is selling the books, and verified from the lovely couple that run the McDonough Store, that Mike Sayles entered the store and the store are selling his books which retail for 15.00 I believe. You can also purchase books on Michael Sayles website. Thank you for your time.

As the owner of a company you should realize that as consumers we have rights. You were paid for a service that was not delivered... PERIOD. That gives me the right to file complaints against your company. I attempted to contact you first and settle this like adults its unfortunate that was not possible. I did not post your info... ripoffreport.com did. As for slander... slander is the act of making FALSE statements in a public forum... the only person who did that is you... nothing you've said about Michael or I is true and therefore the only person who could get sued here is you. Michael doesn't want the book... he doesn't want your company's name associated with his writing... he wants his money. 

Why are you threatening me? People can look up my record, cause I dont have ONE. I am clean, and I did ur boyfriend a favor that I should have never done, but I did, and thats that. LEAVE ME ALONE, I told you that the PRINTER made the MISTAKE, not me...I will not admit to anything wrong, cause I did MIKE a favor....Order 300 books, edit, format, and print em, and see how much it is.....I guarentee its 3 times as much as you paid, I let Mike use MY resources and he PAID exactly what I paid. Publishers dictate when the book coems out, not the author. Im done arguing for all to see, I am a father, and a professional, and I am not interested in arguing anymore. I have already spoken with my old supervisor from the prison, and he tells me if you guys continue to slander my name, then I can do something because my private life is breached, and inmates do not NEED to know my phone number or address.....I have kids...........this is where my problem lies, I wanrt to be left alone....enjoy ur book......and if Mike is a man, then have him call me when hes back in NY visiting.....if hes not here in person, then I have no need to hear from him other than if he doesnt get the books soon.....

My name is Kimberly Childs I am a social worker with a Masters' degree. I am not and have never been a corrections officer. I met Michael Sayles prior to him being in a work release program for defending himself in a bar. "David Jones" aka "Dustin Warburton" aka whatever is making up stories because he cannot be honest and admit that he made a MISTAKE. Michael wrote a book during his free time in work release and rather than have a stranger publish it he decided to ask his so called friend to do so... OOPPPSSSS Big Mistake!!!! MR. "Whoever" is a pathological liar and I have the degree to qualify me to diagnose his illness.

MIKE SAYLES is an Inmate who I did a favor for, and was totally insane....I am a professional and I will not speak of what he did, but in short, he has been slandering my name all over, putting my personal info up all over the web, and Im not the one that went to jail for beating uo a women......Look at the people who go on this thing, beware......who you listen to....Mike and Kimberly are frauds.....

I would like to express my opinion. My friend started BareBones, and he has NEVER ripped off anyone. The two people making these claims, have no right to speak about anyone. Mike, is a former inmate, who was sentenced to Prison in Arizona for reasons I will not disclose, and his girlfriend, Kimberly, was a corrections officer and had inmate relations with Mike. Do not believe these people. This is the TRUTH.....
