Complaint Review: Barnay & Wolfe Inc. - Grapevine Texas

 I am writing to report the business of Barnaby & Wolfe, Inc. located in Grapevine, TX. My complaint is as follows, we had hired Barnaby & Wolfe to collect on our accounts receivable in May 2011 at which time they informed us they would be able to collect on all of our accounts that we would be sending over. They did in fact collect on a few accounts, but never mailed us the payments from these clients. Instead they kept the checks and cashed them and informed us that we had to wait until the next month to receive OUR portion of the payments. We waited for the payments and after the month time frame we were STILL waiting to receive our payments from Barnaby & Wolfe, Inc. After several phone calls to the "owner" Rick Masters we finally received a payment from them. In fact we ACTUALLY wrote them checks a few times!

After a few months of Barnaby & Wolfe, Inc. handling our accounts with very few payments collected we informed that we would no longer be sending other accounts over for them to collect on. At this time we had also begun to receive calls from "Ms. Doe" living in TX who stated that Barnaby & Wolfe, Inc. had contacted her several times on behalf of a debt that was inquired from her EX-HUSBAND who had in fact passed away. She stated that Barnaby & Wolfe, Inc. was contacting her several times a day and were harassing her about the case. She had informed them that she was no longer married to this individual and that he had passed away. Even after this contact had been made she was still receiving calls from them every day, and they were threating her and even called her a, "lying white trash wh*re,"

When "Ms. Doe" contacted our office and explained what was happening I contacted Barnaby & Wolfe, Inc. and informed them to STOP ALL FURTHER CONTACT with this individual as she had nothing to do with the case and had legal documentation to prove so. At this time I was lead to believe I was speaking with the "owner" of the company Rick Masters. Every time I asked for management I was told I was already speaking with them and that the owner lived in FL and did not speak with his clients. After much persuasion I was again lead to believe I was speaking with the owner of the company and asked all further contact to be stopped.

After the call with "Ms. Doe" I asked her to keep me posted and let me know if they continued to contact her. A few days later I received a call from her stating she had filed complaints with the Federal Fair Trade Commissions Act and notified the BBB in TX and MO as to what was happening to her. She stated that she was being harassed from Barnaby & Wolfe, Inc. and would not stand for this as this was not her debt. An attorney was contacted in regards to this situation.

I had been in contact with Gavin who was supposed to be handling all of our accounts. Once speaking with Gavin about this matter he started to turn things around on me and treat me with no regard and acted like I was being TOO NICE to our customers. He told me that they are called DEBTORS for a reason and not to feel sorry for them as they do not feel bad for us. Any time I attempted to cease contact with a customer I was given the run around and again made to feel like I was in the wrong. Gavin and I had SEVERAL heated conversations at which time I was even cussed out; after this happened I had asked to have the conversations "pulled" from their records as they had informed me ALL of their conversations were recorded. I also asked for the phone conversations with "Ms. Doe" to be pulled and reviewed. I was told that they would not and could not do this.

After all of this we felt it was in our best interest to stop all collection processes with Barnaby & Wolfe, Inc. and deal with a company that was more reputable and not referred to as a "pit-bull on steroids". I would highly recommend against using Barnaby & Wolfe, Inc. for any collection attempts as they do not valve their client’s wishes and will turn on you at the drop of a hat! NOT A GOOD COLLECTION AGENCY TO DO BUSINESS WITH.

To add to the previous complaint:

Today Oct. 11, 2013 I received a call from Barnaby & Wolfe, Inc. as I had completed a survey online to locate a new collection agency. A man named Brody gave me a spiel about inquiring for collections. Once I learned what company he was calling from I informed him that I had in fact already done business with his company and would NEVER do so again. I asked that they not call my office anymore in regards to collections that I was looking to hire locally.

Immediately after that conversation ended the line was ringing again at which time my husband answered and it was Barnaby & Wolfe, Inc. (Brody) calling back to let us know that "we have our strings crossed" and did not know what we were talking about. My husband AGAIN informed them to stop all further contact with our office and then ended the conversation.

At this time I called their office and asked to speak with management and was informed that Brody the man I was speaking with was the regional manager and he was the only person to speak with. I asked to speak with his boss or the owner of the company and was told he lived in FL and would not speak with me. At this time I asked that we be removed from the calling list and that we had no intentions of doing business with them. I was informed that I too had my strings crossed and that there was NO RECORD that we have ever done business with Barnaby & Wolfe, Inc. I told Mr. Brody that was odd and was probably due to the fact that their company had resulted in our company being in a lawsuit over their collection practices. The conversation was ended there and no further contact has been made.

VERY BAD BUSINESS PRACTICES ARE USED BY THIS COMPANY AND I WOULD BEWARE OF ANY DEALINGS WITH THEM> Collect at YOUR OWN RISK WITH BARNABY & WOLFE, INC.
