Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
We own and operate a small towing business here and am in need of a newer rollback truck. I have been operating our old fathful 1981 Chevrolet C6500 rollback that is 24' bed, 20K deck for a number of years. Although I replaced the 8.2 with a Detroit factory reworked engine a couple of years ago and kept the truck well maintained, we thought it would be good to replace it as it is now almost 29 years old and like me, showing it's age. My wife and I talked about buying a new or newer truck for quite some time now. A few weeks ago we saw an excellent buy on the internet for a 2007 C7500 rollback. We talked about this purchase for sometime and I finally convinced her to let me buy it. The only condition was that I have the fenders trimmed in the shade of purple that she likes. I agreed. Now we are getting a run around while trying to purchase a tow truck from Bartow Chevrolet in Florida.

These folks advertised the $65,000 price on line and we inquired about the truck, a 2007 C7500, 26' bed, 20K deck, two tool boxes and an under reach. When I wrote them in email that we are interested and would submit our offer, they reduced the price to $63,906. I immediately accepted and asked them to put at least a few hundred down vis a visa card to hold the truck until I could line up finances. Now they are refusing to sell the truck at that price and have raised the price to $69,803 dollars. A difference of $5897.

I don't believe this is right. I believe when you make a deal you should stick with it. This kind of reminds me of the old bait and switch tactics used by schiester salesman. I have a lot of emails on this and also a faxed proposal with a complete specification sheet. We are just sick over this whole transaction. The bank thinks I'm nuts by going there and setting up financing paperwork, then calling them to stop the process because the salesman wrote back in email and said that after I accepted the deal, someone else bought the truck just last night, and he didn't know about it. Then the next day he writes the deal fell through so we are back on, then I go to the bank and rekindle the process.

The manager at the bank is giving me the fish eyes and thinks I'm dealing with a bunch of nut cases at Bartow Chevrolet. She may have a point as they sure do not seem to know how to sell a truck and keep a customer happy. There is much more to this and when someone writes it will all be put on the table. I'm at a loss as to what to do so I think going to the new COO at GM is a start.
