I had an agreement in Nov 2009, with Marcia Mobley of Baylake Doodles, to purchase an English Goldendoodle which was to be born in Feb. 2010, and ready to be released to me 8 weeks after. A deposit was made.

The first time after which she called saying my check had bounced. I hadn't bounced a check in 40 years and told her so. She called later to tell me it was an error with her bank.

Communication was poor at best on her end, and always initiated by me. The flags were there, I was too hopeful and had already given my deposit.

Weeks after the puppies were supposedly born, I got an email saying they all had swimmers' breast and she would either give me first pick of the next litter or a full refund.

I opted for the refund as there was a travel window involved and another puppy wouldn't have worked out. Also I was now mistrustful.

The refund was promised several times by email and on a recorded message. A long line of excuses followed, out of town, in the hospital with cancer, in the hospital with a broken foot, her dog died, she didn't have the money, she had a stroke, she had hospital bills, she was trying to save her house, etc. Then her former husband started answering the email, her sisters Gail and Sharon answered the phone (always sounding like Marcia). Per research it might be possible that these are aka's.

Again, all requests were initiated by me.

Do not buy from this breeder. Please look elsewhere for your puppy. We finally did and it was a beautiful working relationship with the breeder and myself.

After reading the two negative comments regarding Marcia and BayLake Doodles; I felt compelled to write about our experience.  From the start, Marcia has been honest and sincere.  We actually had put down a deposit on a girl puppy and unfortunately, something happened during the birthing process.  Marcia immediately informed us and gave us the option of taking another puppy from that litter, or waiting for another puppy.  We decided to go with a male puppy from the same litter and couldn't be happier!  Windsor is a healthy and alert member of our family.  He has had excellent reports from our vet.  When we take him to our local doodle "romps"  he stands head and shoulders above the other dogs there...you can tell he comes from good breeding.

Further, Marcia has always responded promptly to phone calls and emails.  If fact, I still keep in contact with her almost 2 years later with pictures of our precious Windsor.  She always replies back to me.  We are definitely going to be getting another puppy from Marcia, without reservation.

I would like to think that I am an educated consumers; I do my homework and was  extra vigilant due to the negative press about puppy mills, etc.  After looking into several local breeders; we went with Marcia.  Her puppys are top notch.  I would encourage anyone who is contemplating an addition to their family, to check her out personally and not go by two posted negative comments.

Over the past 6 years we have purchased 3 of Marcia's Labradoodles...they are all the most wonderful dogs we have ever owned.  She has been nothing but professional and an outstanding breeder.  All of her dogs are treated as if they are her own puppies.  They all have names, hugged, and loved.  After our first dog, Jib, we asked her to pick out a puppy for us knowing Jib's personality.  Maggie came to us and she is great.  Then 2 years later, we asked the same of her, and Cajun came into our home.

We gave a non-refundable deposit for each dog with a guarantee that if we were unhappy with any of the dogs she would take it back.  This was all clearly stated in the agreement and she verbally went over it with us.

I'm so sorry to hear of Marcia's recent misfortunes.  She works so hard with her dogs and I hope all goes well for her in the future.  The Cole Family.....Jib, Maggie, Cajun, David, and Kay.

I had a PERFECT experience with getting a dog from Marcia at Baylake Doodles. In my opinion, the reviewer was VERY LUCKY that Marcia was honest that her pups were less than perfect. The contract is very simple and clear. THE DEPOSIT IS NOT REFUNDABLE. Any buyer that doesn't read the contract carefuly - probably shouldn't be purchasing a puppy. Puppies require a lot of attention and sometimes the details when it comes to training and "puppy proofing" a home - can be VERY IMPORTANT.

If you don't have time to read the contract and understand what you are getting into- then you don't need a puppy!

Also, since when are breeder's supposed to be 'perfect' people? When a deposit is NOT refundable and the breeder just happens to be in the hospital - why would anyone think they should be privledged and get a non refundable deposit back?!? Sounds heartless to me.

Who cares if her sister's pick up the phone for Marcia? Yep, they do sound just like her! I think it is nice that her family pitches in and helps her ESPECIALLY when the going gets tough and she's in the hospital.

Marcia ALWAYS responds to e-mails and phone calls promptly. This reviewer with the bad experience- must have really caught her at a bad time (ehem...well yes she had cancer, med bills, vet bills, and a broken foot).... ohh ya and a litter of sick pups!!! Marcia loves every puppy she helps bring into this world. I am sure she was also heart broken - not only did she have sick pups, but also she knew she would be disappointing families who were expecting these pups. I can only imagine how difficult this must have been for Marcia and Baylake Doodles.

Marcia puts her heart into her breeding program. I whole-heartedly believe she is a fantastic breeder!!! I have been blessed with a multigeneration labradoodle from baylake doodles. I couldn't have been more impressed with Marcia's dedication to her doodles and her buyers. My doodle is 10 mos old and Marcia has been very helpful with any questions I've had since day 1.

Wow, I have never disagreed more with an individual.  In February 2004 we received the most loving and best dog ever from Marcia.  We heard about labradoodles on the Good Morning America show and I called Marcia in June of 2003 and she did not have any dogs but I sent her our deposit immediately and we went to her home in October 2004 when the puppies were a few weeks old and picked out our puppy with her help.

We were sent pictures as they grew older until we were able to pick her up.  Never did I question her integrity.  We have kept in touch with Marcia with pictures and phone calls exchanged for 7 years.

We lost our Zoey Rose December 2009 suddenly and Marcia helped me realize that I could love another dog.  She told me whenever  I was ready she would give me another puppy.  We now have Wilson and Marcia gave us this labradoodle. Does that sound like a money hungry shady person?

We were at her home in April of this year and Marcia did indeed break her foot.  You sure can't fake that.

Why can't people read contracts?  When you make a committment to have a dog I would hope you would want someone to look out for your interest and not sell you a dog that have medical issues.  You pay the deposit and wait for your puppy.  If your situation changes that is not the fault of the breeder.

I would hope that this person never has to deal with financial problems and cancer.  This person is very wrong about Marcia and her integrity.  If you are going to change your mind about wanting a dog then read the contract so you know there are not any "refunds"

We have sent over 20 people in St Petersburg to Marcia to get a labradoodle and we see many labradoodle owners and not one has ever had anything but the best to say about Marcia and her Baylake dogs.

My husband and I brought our precious puppy, Chloe, home this summer. Upon researching breeders in our area, we came across Baylake Doodles. Marcia's website and contract clearly state the rules to buying a puppy from her. Same as most breeders, a refund of deposit is not offered, but selection of a puppy from a later litter are the rules. Our experience with Marcia was during this past year while she was having the health problems described in the original post. Marcia always managed to get back to us either via phone or email to let us know the status of our new puppy (we had specific requests). I understand that when a family is getting a puppy, waiting a few days for a response from your breeder can seem like a lifetime. However, we must understand that our breeders have health and life issues just like we do. My husband and I could not be happier with Chloe, and would definitely recommend Baylake Doodles.

As a side note: After we purchased Chloe, my grandparents 4 year old Maltese passed away from cancer. I contacted Marcia again because her website states that she has adult dogs that are retiring from breeding up for adoption. Marcia made my grandparent's dreams come true by allowing her to adopt Chloe's mom since it was her last litter. My family now has two amazing Baylake Doodles!

I am a customer of Baylake, I own a puppy, Cooper, a multi gen doodle. He is the most wonderful and well tempered puppy, people are amazed when they see him. I have taken him for his puppy wellness and they all ask if they could borow him, "kind of funny." I went on the waiting list with Marcia, I had to wait because I wanted a specific puppy.. She is always available and if she is not she returns my calls. She has also answered all my questions via tele or email. This report I must say does not seem correct. I have even visited, she spend alot of time with my family while we choose a pup. I am on the waiting list for another pup... When I sent my payment, I utilized the paypal and did not have a problem. Banks do make mistakes, but I do not see that Baylake should be blamed for that.

I purchased my Goldendoodle one year today and can not be happier. I did not buy the pup by internet. i went to the breeder (Baylake) in Orlando to pick him from the litter.

Cody is  one year today and is the best dog I have ever had. If I choose to get a second doodle, I would only get it from Baylake.

Feel free to contact me for a reference.

THIS compliant by Bunny is not all together true The bank had returned a check for deposit and told me it was her check and later found out if was not her ck it was someone else deposit ck, I have no hard feeling toward bank and I am sure they make mistakes sometimes

All three pups in the litter had swimmers chest and quite not the litter I had hoped for, in our Contract we always offer another pup in next litter in which we did and she refused since they where not in Fla anylonger offered to fly pup at no fee to them they refused

Her being mistrustful after me being in business several yrs was her issue not mine we have had Celebrity Golf Pros buy from us, Tiger Woods his nanny also and Professional Baseball players, actors, writers, Gov State Attorney officials and even the Mayor of Orlando last yr and its a shame she was leary of us. We have excellent ref after 17 yrs and never had a bad report unfortunately for her she must not trust anyone

Last yr was a terrible yr for me and I did fall off my top step and broke my foot, I also had to undergo chemo and have help &  I had tremendous high medical bills with chemo that is true when other people get involved helping me its not her call to

question who what where I just hope Bunny does not go thru some of the things I had happen this yr I did loose my Lab girl of 17 yrs and I think the lady has a problem with someone telling her these things

Anyone that has ever been here in my home and seen my dogs and me Jan 2009 and Feb and March know I had my foot in cast just put my dog down in Feb and needed

family and friends to help out for a change

I am glad they found another Doodle I am and sorry I could not help with new litter

but if you read the contract deposits are non fundable  and my buyers know this

as most breeders have non refundable contracts

Our references speak volumes and we are really proud and happy with the wonderful customers we have from all walks of life  This is a first for me
