Here is the majority of a letter I wrote to Best Buy regarding my problem with them installing my newly purchased dishwasher.

I am having problems getting a dishwasher I purchased on 11/10/04 installed. The dishwasher was delivered on 11/14/04 and was to be installed on 11/20/04. When the installer came he said that there was a problem and I need to shut off my water.

At the time I did not know exactly where the water shut off was, he said he could not find it and I would have to call and reschedule it. 10 min after he left I looked for it and found it. I called the number he left me and I have left approx 6 different messages for a "Norb" @630-588-4694. On one ocassion approx 2 weeks ago he decided to return one of my phone calls. He said that his scheduler was not in but as soon as he came in someone would call me back to schedule the installation.

My new dishwasher has been sitting in my kitchen the entire time because Norb refuses to return my phone calls. I called the toll free number again on 12/3/04 and I was told that "Norb" would be calling me no later than Monday. I have yet to hear from him.

This is the third or fourth time I have had a problem with installation or delivery of appliances since I moved into my home approx 18 mos ago. In that time I have bought:

-a clothes dryer

-35 TV

-surround sound entertainment system

-27 TV

-Refrigerator

-stove

Not to mention dozens of cd, video games and dvds from Best Buy.

I can assure you of one thing, that from now on I am not going to be making my large purchases at Best Buy, there is no way around that. But if something is not done to resolve this issue, I will no longer be making any purchases there.

First, here is the corporate address: Best Buy Co., Inc. Corporate Headquarters P.O. Box 9312 Minneapolis, MN 55440-9312 -------------- This past Wed I got a call from someone, not sure if it was Best Buy or the delivery company. He told me he was available on Wed 12/19 for delivery. Of course I can't keep taking off work so I told him that it would have to be on a weekend. So now it is scheduled for 1/8/05. I have no confidence in this actually happening, but we shall see.

I call the toll free number and they tell me to call the local installer. I call the local number and I keep leaving messages for the supposed installation manager...and I have yet to get a response. I call the store where I bought it and go to the appliances dept...no answer. I call the customer service line and when they do answer they put me on hold. When I talk to someone and ask for a manger, I am put on hold for 14 min....so obviously I hang up. I have to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that because of the season, they are too busy to take my call. In the end, after a month, the dishwasher is still sitting in my kitchen and I have yet to hear from anyone about when it will be installed. Unbelievable.

I also am having a problem with Best Buy. I purchased a warranty with my Playstation 2 console two years ago. Needless to say, the console broke and I was sent a voucher to replace it. The warranty was $100.00 on top of the $150.00 purchase of the console. For the past three days we have been getting the run around. We have been lied to, we have been told that they cannot sell the consoles until a certain day and we've been told that they would set one aside for us and haven't. The point is, the console has already been purchased and we just want to replace it however, no one at Best Buy wants to give us what we are entitled to and what we have paid for. We just recently spent over a thousand dollars including a new computer and Christmas gifts(cd's, movies, new tv, computer games and PSII games). I'm with you Jay, I assure you that I will no longer shop there if they don't get this issue resolved! I have emailed their customer service online but have not received a response at all. Does anyone have a CORPORATE address to Best Buy? (Best Buys in Geneva, Naperville and Bolingbrook)
