I knew Shane Weyland back in the day. I purchased a home & needed it painted. I knew he as going through hard times and he was a painter for as long as I could remember. so I thought I'll help an old "friend" out. I never though he would do this! He came to my home late (rescheduling a few times) we did a walk through & told he all of the preping/fixing he would do & gave me an estimate. The estimate was slightly low but since I knew him and he really needed the job I thought he was giving me a discount because he knew I had other painter friends. I gave him a down payment and a deadline to have 2 rooms done by move in date (2 weeks away). When the move in date came there was not a single room done! He did a little in each room but with the poor work he kept having to repatch and repaint walls 3 and 4 times. Every friday he needed more money for supplies. The budget for materials kept going up. Come to find out he was using the cheepest paint/material he could get. He used my down payment to pay "back child support so he didn't go to jail" had no money & he needed the money "to survive and buy diapers and milk for the kids". After 7 weeks of little progress I started checking on him on my lunch breaks to see what was happening. He wasnt showing up, he always had an excuse. No babysitter, he was sick or he had a rough night and couldn't make it he'll put in extra hours tomorrow". That never happened! In the end I paid him almost in full and about 1/2 of the work is completed. I have to have the whole house repainted. The new painter is charging me less, using the proper paint and actully making repairs & showing up. Shane Weyland ate my food, drank my drinks, left cigartte butts in my flower planters, stole from me and threatened to come to my work. So many red flags wish I would have listened to my instinct. Now I'm out $5060 and I have to pay someone else fix what he did. Wish I researched him prior to giving him money I now see that this is not the first complaint against him and it looks like he did the same thing to them.
