They had me fill a prescription for glasses, without telling me about the costs, and that there was a no refund policy. Then at the second visit, before my daughter had gotten the new glasses, said that the glasses that were on order and could not be refunded were not going to work for her and referred me to a specialist, where I would be able to go back to Dr. Bold's office and get another prescription at my cost. The second evaluation should have been given at the first, since there were no changes and the glasses should have been refunded, since they will not do my daughter any good, being the wrong prescription.

They basically filled a prescription for my daughter at an outrageous price, knowing that they were not sure they would be a good pair of glasses for her, and then refuse to refund, knowing that they are not good for her.

I have already informed all my friends and family who might go to them, as well as my daughter's school who has placed them on a list to never do business with.

They are just looking for people without vision insurance to make up for what they have lost through insurance short pays.

I wished to update this report, since I am unable to delete it from the records. I am the originator of this report. Dr. Bold contacted me 2/20/09 to help come together to resolve the issues discussed in the report. I do want to first off say that the majority of my original report was due to his staff at the time and was not to reflect on his ability as a doctor. He preformed his services as he should have. He has at this time refunded me the price of the glasses originally purchased and I do appreciate his taking the time to help work through these issues, though I do wish it had been taken care of at the time the event took place. I do commend Dr. Bold for taking the situation into his own hands and willingness to make things right. He has assured me that his staff has been made aware of how to deal with these situations from here on out and that a few have been replaced since I had been there. I appreciate Dr. Bold for taking the time to make sure this was finally resolved. Thank you.

First off: Who in the world goes shopping and does not ask for a price when they are on a budget? You can tell this lady just wanted to rant because she did not get what she needed probably for lack of asking. Please do not listen to one persons account. Go in to Dr. Bold's yourself. Some people, such as this, do not know how to communicate! My first clue that this woman is wrongly accusing (to put it nicely) is that she did not ask a price! You can only imagine that she sat there not communicating the rest of her needs or facts for the office to use to best help her if any part of this was close to true. I think this woman should be held responsible for defamation by Dr. Bold and his staff. He is such a nice man and does not deserve to be in this web site being attacked or in here at all. This is obviously a lady who did not do her homework while shopping, did not get her way for it and should be mad at herself! It's pretty malicious to go through this trouble to take money from a man and his family. As for her non-insured hunters claim... read how they helped me get my appointment covered by my insurance! Here is my experience as a first time and now repeat customer!: I was recently taken off the list of insurance companies taken by my regular optometrist. I had been going there for 15 years. I was not looking forward to going somewhere new. I had options and saw Dr. Bold and decided on his office. That was the greatest choice! I felt I won the lotto on this one! I walked into the office and was greeted by a FRIENDLY and smiling staff! That doesn't always happen at a Dr.'s office. I waited no time while they began to get me processed as a new patient which was lightening quick. One of the office staff, Irene, came up to me quietly and told me that my insurance was saying it was too soon for my eye appointment. Being that it is medically necessary that I get a specific exam every 6 months for medications I knew I was eligible. Instead of re-scheduling me and making me get the approval, Irene picked up the phone and handled it with my insurance. They did all the leg work so I could be seen and while they were on the phone the other staff member took me through the beginning appointment motions anyway, not expecting a dime from me. Soon after it was all handled I was taken back to Dr. Bold. If they are looking for cash patients I assume they would have not done the work to get me approved through my slow to pay vision coverage. Even before my appointment I asked how I could purchase lenses for my favorite old pair of frames that were now scratched and an old prescription. They broke down all the cost and told me what each cost was for. (I even compared them after my appointment to what I paid at my other doctor and they were very similar in cost!) Dr. Bold took his time and was very efficient. He was warm and friendly but more then that he knew his stuff and he checked my eyes in every way they could be checked. I was so impressed that he actually took extra time checking my corneas with several different methods to make sure I was cleared of any of the possible eye involved side effects before I walked out of his office. I had never felt so confidant in an eye doctor before. No eye doctor had ever taken the time Dr. Bold had with me. I was taken to look through frames and they patiently waited for my overly picky eye and pulled many of their frames to choose from. Not once did they make me feel rushed either. They seemed to be having as much fun as me. They gave me all my options and talked about price almost immediately as well as my options in lenses and what would work into my budget. They were also pretty darn good at helping me pick great frames for my face. I'm in the art world myself so they had to deal with my artistic eye and that need for the perfect fit on my face along with high fashionable style. Once I left there office I felt like I had a new family and was so happy about the great new eye doctor I found in Dr. Bold. They were warm, friendly, and professional. I am stunned to find someone has complained. If you want to know the price of something then ask. I didn't have to as they brought it up for me but if I didn't know I certainly would be smart enough to take the time! Who can take back eyeglasses that have been completed? This sounds like a bunch of sad ranting to me, a happy camper Dr. Bold patient and fan! Dr. Michael Bold and Bold Optometry are great and I thank them for their attention and great service.
