BROWARD COUNTY 8 DOLLARS COURT PARKING ken I entered the 8 dollars court parking on Friday 1/21/11 at 8:20 am. I parked my car and waited in a visible area for someone to collect the money for parking. I waited for about 2 minutes and no fort lauderdale, Florida
BROWARD COUNTY 8 DOLLARS COURT PARKING (ACROSS FROM THE BROWARD COUNTY COURTHOUSE) SCAM PARTNERSHIP WITH ALL COUNTY TOWING IN FORT LAUDERDALE. THESE GUYS CHARGED ME 124.00 DOLLARS FOR A 30 MINUTES PARKING. I entered the 8 dollars court parking on Friday (1/21/11) at 8:20 am. I parked my car and waited in a visible area for someone to collect the money for parking. I waited for about 2 minutes and no one came and ask me for anything. I assumed that I can pay when I COME BACK FROM THE COURT HOUSE.Therefore, Since I had a subpoena to be in court at 8:30 am, I went to court and came back 20 minutes later and my car had been towed. The guys at the parking were rude and said. It is my responsibility to pay before I leave. I asked them where does it says that? They were not able to give me an explanation other than to blame it on me. I went to ALL COUNTY TOWING (where my car was towed) 520 NW 7th street, Fort Lauderdale and the guy (TOTAL STRANGER) expected me to give him the key to my car, so he can look for my registration. I did not have any choices, since he will not release my car without seeing my registration. I showed him my driver licence and proof of insurance, but it was not enough. I asked him can we both go in the car at the same time, and I will show you him where to look for my registration. He said, no. The guy at the towing company was very rude and treated me as though I was a criminal, and he was the cop. I was charged 124 dollars for a 30-minute parking. Furthermore, I gave him 140 dollars hoping that he would give me back change since the bill was 124, and he said that he does not give changes back. I did not have the exact change. These guys are thieves and they have a licence to steal.

I guess those who post defending this scam are really the company acting as someone who really cares. YEAH SURE. This is a big well know scam that happens everyday in different ways. The amazing part is most lots are owned by lawyers who work next door. Yes they use spotters. Yes the avoid taking your certain victims money so this flies, Yes the city, county and legal entities knows this happens. Yes those who can stop this are making lots of money so won't cleanp unless it becomes a public issue. I too had a similar experience. I am filing through the state attorneys office and following it until I get a response I expect. I predict change and some public exposure coming to who is playing this game. Keep your eyes on your wallet in this town...

So since this is a scam I guess the parking lot was empty when you came back. Because if you were towed they must have towed everyone else who didn't pay in advance. Or are you going to use the excuse thatno one else paid in advance andtheytowed you at random. Or is this a case where they were just picking on you. Which excuse are you going to use?
The statements that you basically waited in a "visible area" for about 2 minutes are unique. After all in that two minutes it didn't occur to you that if you had a question about when to pay to actually go to them instead of them waiting for them to come to you.
I think that this is a case where you knew you were not going to be in the court house that long and was hoping that you could get back in time before they realized you didn't pay. After all why in the world should you have to pay 8 when you are only going to be 30 minutes. Unfortunatly these "high traffic" parking lots seethis type of personall the time. I wouldn't be surprised if they had 2-3 spotters around the lot watching every person that came in to see if they paid before they left the lot.

DO NOT PARK AT THE 8 DOLLARS PARKING (ACROSS FROM THE BROWARD COUNTY COURTHOUSE). IF YOU DO NOT WANT YOUR CAR TOWED, YOU SHOULD PARK SOMEWHERE ELSE. THESE GUYS WILL TOW YOUR CAR AWAY TO ALL COUNTY TOWING. ALL COUNTY TOWING WILL CHARGE YOU AT LEAST 124.00 DOLLARS PER DAY TO GET YOUR CAR BACK.. BY THE WAY, YOU BETTER BRING THE EXACT CHANGE WITH YOU BECAUSE THEY WILL NOT GIVE ANY CHANGE BACK.

No rip off here. You parked illegally and got towed. End of story. You stated that you ARRIVED at 8:20AM for an 8:30AM court date! Are you kidding me?? How stupid is that.
Hint for next time. Leave the house about an hour earlier,so you can get there and get parked with time left over. Allow for emergencies like traffic jams, accidents, breakdowns, etc.
The bottom line here is that you KNEW you had to pay. Thats why you looked around as you stated for someone to take your money! BUT you were in a hurry and only waited 2 minutes as you stated as you did not leave yourself enough time to get parked [legally] and get into the court room.
You caused your own problems here.
