Budget Rental Trucks ripoff Where the word "Reservation" has taken on a new meaning! Bloomington Illinois
We were moving from Bloomington, IL to Galesburg, IL and had a reservation with Budget Truck Rentals for a 24 foot truck. My wife and I had been packing all week and the entire house was packed and ready to go for Saturday when we were to pick up the truck. We had to be out by Monday.
So Saturday morning rolls around and I get a call from Budget. The guy on the phone says we don't have a truck for you. Needless to say I was a little angry. So he gives us an 800 number to call and see if they can find a truck for us. We call them and explain we have had a reservation for months to get a truck on this day and there is no truck there!!! They explain that they are going to start looking for a truck for us.
So we let them start looking, but in the mean time I began calling other companies to find a truck. I located one about thirty miles away that would not be available until the next day and cost us $120 dollars more. I took the truck because I had not choice, we had to get moved out. So after that I began to just call around to a few other Budget rental stores and in about ten minutes I had found a truck but I would have to drive an hour to get it. I opted for sticking with the truck for 120 more because I had had enough with Budget!!
I called Budget's service center again to discuss the situation with a supervisor and inform them that I expected them to compensate me for the difference now that I found another company since they did not honor their reservation. The supervisor informed me, now get this, "A reservation does not reserve the truck, only the price". WHAT THE HECK!!!! I responed I did not just pack up my entire house and intend on loading and moving it in a price. I NEEDED A TRUCK!!! She said they would not compensate for any difference in price either!! Well, I am saving my receipts and I have their corporate office address (which should be included in this post) and they will be recieving a letter with what I feel they owe me for not honoring their reservation. I will also be reporting them to the better business bureau here in Illinois and in Texas.
Bottomline, DO NOT RENT ANYTHING FROM BUDGET!!!! They may give a good price but that means they will not deliver on the service. A very poor business!!
