Budget Van Lines moving broker giving bogus estimate Internet
I contacted this company and spoke with the rep numerous times, to be certain my weight and items were correct. The representative gave me a final price that I accepted. The company that came to load and move, then told my wife the price was over $900.00 more than I was given by the broker. This, after I paid the broker $ 350.00 for packing and materials. The mover also said that he had informed the broker of the additional expense the morning of the move and asked them to call me. They never called.
I filed a complaint with the broker and was told a quality control rep would contact me. No call was ever received about the price increase or was there any attempt to resolve the issue. They had the nerve to have someone call me and ask if my property had arrived.
This was an absolute scam and the company, contrary to federal regulations did nothing to address the inflated cost, after giving the estimate. I wish I had done better research about this company. For any one planning a long distance move, do not use this company. My wife was told the day the movers came that there was not option available and she had to sign a waiver, accepting the additional charges, or the items would stay on the truck until she signed.
The movers were a legitimate company from Flushing, NY and did a very good job. My complaint is not with them it is with the broker. Also,save your time and money. Don't bother even using a moving broker. They are a waste of time and you can solicit the movers directly on the internet.
