Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

They are a rip off. they over charged me by 1,148+ dollars (for 4 days)

rude and continued to charge me as I write this. They are extremely rude. I could of rented a car from Avis/Budget for a month for 500.00+ dollars. Making a reservation, they did not include insurance. When I went to pick up the car at the Citadel Mall, Charleston SC. The young guy there was rude! plus when I asked, " I have insurance on this, right"? He said, "No, you don't get insurance".... I read the contract after the emergency trip I had to take and the contract said that I declined any kind of insurance. I was not verbally given that option.

I'm very upset trying to get help from these guys I'm talking to as I write here. Next, the gas, I did not fill it, but it was not full when I got the car. It was 3/4 of fuel in the car. I didn't complain, I had to drive to be on time.

Plus now they are charging me $9.99 for gas per gallon. They are Gouging customers.

He won't budge on this price, he still wants:

$903.15 I talked and asked again pleading and he dropped it

down to $809.00 (Robert) Plus remember its only $500.00 plus to rent an Avis/Budget car per month! I notice that all women have complained on this site. Which leads me to believe that the good ratings are by Budget employees. Everyone I have spoken to since I did book with Budget told me they are the worst rip off. Be careful. I'm going to now call Loss Prevention, another number this man, Robert just give me. I'm miserable, because I planned on buying a Budget for sale car. This is not good. You need an attorney to sign a lease agreement at Budget. They are unfair. Horrible, rude, ripoff company. Beware!

The original charge to rent was $183.94 was what I was suppose to get charged.

I could of rented a car from Avis/Budget for a month for 500.00+ dollars.  A completely irrelevant statement to your complaint.  I could have done this or could have done that, changes nothing about your situation.  That also would not have included insurance, or gas, or putting dents in the car.

Making a reservation, they did not include insurance.  Car rental reservations DO NOT include insurance.  The price they advertise is for the rental itself, not additional items - like insurance.  Most people carry their own automobile insurance and that coverage generally extends to rentals you drive, unless you purchased a policy that excludes rentals.  Check with your auto insurance carrier - just in case you managed to dent the car.

I read the contract after the emergency trip I had to take and the contract said that I declined any kind of insurance. I was not verbally given that option.  If you signed the contract before you left with the car, then you simply chose not to read the contract until something happened to the car.  That would be your responsibility and if you failed to read the contract, then that is your fault.

Next, the gas, I did not fill it, but it was not full when I got the car. It was 3/4 of fuel in the car.  Yeah, that's generally how you get a rental car - it's either 3/4's or a little more.

Plus now they are charging me $9.99 for gas per gallon. They are Gouging customers.  This is all part of the contract you signed.  You have a choice before you bring the car in - you stop maybe 5-10 miles before you return the car - fill the tank - and then return the car.  Or return the car without filling the tank, and you pay a lot for them to fill the tank with gas.  It's a lesson learned.

I talked and asked again pleading and he dropped it down to $809.00 (Robert).  Sounds like you found someone who wasn't rude.  You should pay the bill before Robert's offer disappears.

Plus remember its only $500.00 plus to rent an Avis/Budget car per month! I think we already determined that was irrelevant.

I notice that all women have complained on this site.  Incorrect and also irrelevant.

The problem you have is that you failed to take responsibility for all of the issues you've run into.  There are many items in your contract you need to read and understand, and if you don't, then you need to have the rental company explain what you don't understand before you sign the contract.  If you signed the contract, then it means legally you understood everything in the contract, and you are bound by everything in that contract.  Coming here and complaining after the fact when you didn't read anything in the contract you signed - and then not accepting any responsibility is a useless exercise.

Full disclosure:  I have never been an employee or worked for this or any rental car company.  I have rented cars from various companies (Avis mostly, but Avis and Budget are essentially the same company) for business and all of the things you've complained about, including insurance and fuel, are listed in Black & White and in some cases - emphasized - in a car rental contract.  I have also purchased cars in the past from both Enterprise and Avis.

Pay the bill.  Best of luck to you....

Insurance?

On this site a majority of the complaints on Car Rentals come down to two types of complaints.

The person who is charged insurance on their rental and claim they never agreed to it and the company just added it on. Then there is the person who claims they were given a bill for damage, and say that they actually wanted insurance but were either never offered it or the clerk refused to add it.

I am going to go out on a limb and figure you fall into the later category. If this is the case, then what is the damage they are claiming and do you deny doing it?  If you deny it, did you do a walk around before you left the rental place, and when you returned it did you do a walk around with them showing no additional damage?

A side issue is the fuel. When you left did they mark the tank as 3/4, and when you returned it did you return it at 3/4 tank?

It's a simple matter! You were charged for more than the agreed price. Ok, what are the extra charges for??
