The address below is the same address listed on the back of the title as the address for C-O Automotive:

U-Haul Co

Address: 4580 Charlotte Hwy, Clover, SC

Phone: (803) 831-2333

I found this car through an ad in Auto Trader online and I called them. The wife told me that they had some friends who wanted to sell their car, but didn't want to deal with it so they were selling it for them. They said their friends ran a shop in that area and that the car was in excellent condition and the only thing wrong with it was a couple of minor cosmetic things. After talking awhile I felt confident the car was what I needed. I stressed that I was in pretty dire need of a car right away, something dependable. Anyway I was under the assumption I was buying a car from a nice couple and never was told or knew they were dealers. I asked if the car was at their home and the wife said no, it's over at our business in Lake Wylie, u-haul and mini-storage business. I also told her that I would go ahead and call the insurance company before I came. I mentioned that I didn't know what to do about a tag. She said we can probably find one around here you can use to drive it home on.

She never said they had 30-day dealer tags and I didn't really put it together. Once I met them at the u-haul business I never saw any sign about a dealership or anything. After we signed the titles and bill of sale, they pointed out to me that they had put a 30-day tag on the car. It said C-O Automotive. Then later I was looking over the title and saw that it was signed over to a C-O Automotive and not an individual. I was having problems with the car already and thought I'm in trouble because I had bought from dealers. Since the car was giving me problems I took it to a mechanic who told me the catalytic converter and O-2 oxygen sensor is bad and it will never pass NC inspection. These people knew I was a resident in NC. Also before I could have that fixed, the fuel pump went out and left me stranded on the road on Thanksgiving Day. I had called them about the problems prior to that day and spoke to the wife, but the husband never returned my call. He finally left a message on my work phone after I wrote the BBB about it. He basically said I paid, I drove it off the lot and now it's my problem.

I never would have bought from a dealer because I have been scammed so many times and I did not know I was buying from a dealer then. Once I knew, it was too late to do anything about it.
