Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
My daughter attended CA Charter Academy ( a school that is now closed down for more than one reason) for 3 years and graduated with a 4.0 GPA. She had planned for college for years and Charter Academy knew it.

After applying for a CAL-Grant, we were notified that my daughter was disqualified because Charter was not an accredited school. The school never gave that information. They said they were a public school just like any other public school.

Snowline School District was suppose to be monitoring that Charter was operating in compliance with state laws. The CA Education code states that parents must be informed about the transferability of credits.

Even though Charter violated the education code, Snowline did not exercise their responsibility to monitor the school, and the administrator of Charter embezzled millions of dollars funded by the state and taxpayers so he could purchase his own business, Disneyland vacations, new cars, and credit cards for his whole family, the only support received by my State Education Dept was a letter from their so-called "attorney" that basically said they couldn't care less and were going to do nothing about it.

My daughter who is a very dedicated student and worked very hard to maintain a high GPA so she could receive aid for college now has a financial burden of $15,000 in student loans from her first year in college and will probably not be able to attend next year because of the cost and no financial aid.

So parents and citizens BEWARE!!! Don't trust the education department. They will not the protect the rights of your children of take action when their laws are violated,

RESPONSE FOR ARIZONA CHARTER SCHOOL COMMENT

Ask Eagle's Aerie Charter School about their motto for the six A's that they say make them unique from other schools. One of the A's that they list on their website is as follows: Academics - We offer a strong academic foundation focusing on personal achievement and mastery, insuring that our students are prepared for the requirements they will face after high school and beyond. Tell them "YEAH RIGHT!"

It looks like it is part of the charterschool game not to inform parents about the non-accreditation. I called the AZ board of charterschools after the director of the "Eagle's Aerie Charter School" lied to everybody making them believe that his school was accredited (no written information about the accreditation anywhere...) The boards answer was: "... here in Arizona, charterschools don't have to be accredited" when I asked the board if we as the parents don't have the right to be informed about the non-accreditation of a school. The answer was again: "here in AZ, charterschools don't have to be accredited". The fact that the director lied to us at the initial meeting was no reason for the board to consider our complaint. We believe that the state board for charter schools doesn't control these schools at all, they can practically do what they want and nobody asks if the students really learn anything. The school just has to tell their students "sit down, selfstudy" and the state will give them money for this particular student.
