I have only owned my spa for 1 year and 11 months. The motor started making noises so we called Cal Spas. They had a contractor who came over to establish what the problem is and he told us that the chemicals caused the gasket to leak thus allowing water into the pump and the bearings rusted. This is apparently not covered under the warranty because we were told that we used the chemicals incorrectly. We purchased Cal Spas chemicals, check the balance all the time and applied the chemicals according to the instructions on the containers and in the manuals. To fix the pump it is going to cost $500. I dont see how if we use their chemicals and it makes the gasket fail and it ruins the pump that is our fault. I just don't get it. I have noticed a number of complaints on the web that are just like mine and Cal Spas refuses to take care of the matter under the warranty. If my situation is not covered then what is?

I want Cal Spas to pay for this work and I believe it does fall under the guidelines of their warranty.

Brent, Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Back In April, you were referred to the Warranty Review Board for a final decision. We received your letter and are happy that we worked out a resolution. Since this pump had severe chemical abuse due to improper PH balances, Cal Spas was unable to get coverage for this item under Warranty terms. However, your servicing center, Leisure World Home Resort Products were able to have this replaced for you with the negotions that you worked out for them. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you, and the new pump that has been installed will maintain Warranty coverage. If you have any future problems with your replacement pump, Cal Spas will back this up with coverage on Parts & Labor regardless of any leakage or damage as a courtesy to you for the rest of the duration of your Warranty period. Please contact our Customer Care department at 800-225-7727 and press option # 1 if you need further assistance.
