I reported that my spa quit operating approximately 5 months ago. Initially, one of their "service representatives" came out. He charged me $85.00. He then called to say that due to some creative writing on my invoice, that the warranty I received was actually cut from 5 years to 1 year. After several phone calls and providing support, they acknowledged my "warranty."

I was then told to call Scott back. Scott never returned my call. Still hasn't. I called the store repeatedly. They finally said - "we don't have the parts - we need to order them." They never return calls. As a matter of fact, if I don't call with a caller ID block, they don't answer the phone.

Well, several months later, they continue to promise that the part will be in "next week." "It will be repaired by Christmas" "Our Corporate Office is failing to get the part."

I then at least received call backs from their Corporate office after going over the issue with them via the internet. They have acknowledged that this store is a problem franchise and won't return calls to them either. Great.

The Corporate Office has told me that they'll "go around" the store. We'll see. I've had the spa for less than 2 years and 5 months of that time, it sits as a big monolith in my backyard collecting dust. Will it ever work? Who knows.

I spent thousands on this piece of a spa. I've also spent hours trying to get it up and running.

Do yourself a favor and make sure you research a purchase like this. I learned a big lesson. I didn't think businesses like this still pulled rip-offs like Cal Spas - Westminster. Live and learn.

Well, it's been a while and I'm ready to start pursuing legal action. My original report, back in Dec 2003 reported no hope, broken promises, a lot of missed repair visits, a Corporate Office who initially promised to correct the issue and then went dark on me. It's now April 15, 2004. It's become a sad game. I call the store at least 3 times a week. I have to use a phone that blocks caller ID or they don't answer. Jim came out to "fix" things once or twice in the last 4 months. He even said once - "it's working!" My elevated hopes were dashed to find it in the same state of disrepair (after draining, cleaning and refilling - only to find that Jim didn't really check whether it was working or not). Oddly, yesterday, the Corporate Office called me out of the blue. (Reading these reports maybe?). Anyway, the guy was really nice! Wow! He promised he'd fix the spa "this week." Great! I called back the Corporate office today and was berated by the most rude Customer Service person ("Peggy") that I've ever encountered. I got the impression the call yesterday will go nowhere (after 8 months, I wonder why I'd feel that way?). Somehow, I know that this is more lip service and actually becoming a humorous game to these folks - except the joke's on me. Stay tuned. I'm ready to spend as much as I did on my spa pursuing these guys in court. I can't believe it's gone this far.
