Earl Close your account immediately. From all the research I have done in the last few days, I know it's what I have to do. I am lucky to belong to a small local bank with one accountant handling it all. I know it's a pain, but it's the only way to stop them. There are three reports at Mass AG's office already. Call 617-727-2200 and ask to speak with Jennifer Galante. She did not give me permission to do this, so I don't know if it will upset her, but that's who I spoke to. You have to file a written report and you can get that at the AG's site. Put fraud alerts on all three of the major credit reporting agencies. Two of the numbers are as follows: Equifax: 1-800-525-6285 Transunion: 1-800-680-7289 Not sure of the other one. But please, please file with the AG's office. Takes a few to get them going. And report the theft of your identity--password protect all your credit cards and call your mortgage company to protect any assets. Do everything you can think of, because in essence, your identity has been stolen.
