Capital One added a charge of $187.58 to my online payments. I paid the charge thinking it was a charge I made at a local merchant, and paid the amount as if it was any other charge, in full amount, and noticed another charge the next day May 9th 2007 of $298.88. After calculating the recent activity, the $298.88 was correct, but the $187.58 just came out of nowhere. I had disputes on the phone (a couple of times) add up all the charges and they said "huh" that's weird, and they kept transferring me to different departments. They promised to send out a check for that amount. When I called the next day, I asked if anything ws being sent out, and they said they'd send it out now. I had to call one more time to actually have them send it out. When I got the mail, capital one sent me a letter saying they regret that that happened (I have the letter for further clarification), and there was no check. Again, I called and got the phone transfer to a lot of reps, until I got the head of the department, and she said there is no number where I can reach her, she can't give that out, and promised to send the check in the mail on the 18th of July 2007. Again only a letter came in without a check, and I called their number 800-887-8643, and a rep came on and kept saying "I can't hear you", I got really loud, he paused, and repeated something like he can't hear me at all, and I just yelled "LAWYER". I am planning on shutting Capital One down for FRAUD, because that's exactly what they did, and watch your statements because they will cheat you out of your money. If anyone has had a problem with them please try to get a hold of me, the more evidence in court, the better. Thank you

Maybe you should cultivate a relationship with another institution?

Phase out CapOne by *shifting* your business [account activity] elsewhere. Don't cut & run. Maybe look up some firms & then see how many complaints each firm might have here before you select one. CapOne has been knocked here for not reporting a credit card holder's credit limit thereby "causing" the credit bureaus to assume the customer's CapOne CC was maxed out-> bad for the customer's credit rating. Small claims court may be effective.... there are numerous successful small claims court accounts reported here. It will be too bad if you must resort to small claims court for a refund that could be simply corrected at no cost to CapOne. Use your letters to justify 3X damages.
