The reason CapitalOne asks, Whats in your wallet? is so they know how much they can take from you. After being charged a ridiculous 29.40% on my last bill I decided to take my good credit and business elsewhere.
I called in to get a final payoff, and paid off the card in full for that day per the agent's payoff amount (which specifically included all charges accrued through that date). I had been offered $100 off my last bill if I paid as agreed, and was told to expect this money back in the form of a credit which I could then get back as a check once the account was closed.
Imagine my surprise when the next statement showed up showing that I owed another $88.93, plus showing that theyd given, but then taken away 3 days later my $100 credit.
I called the company for clarification and was told (by agent Angie, ID: PZN056) that there was an error and that I was due a check back. She also felt I shouldnt have had the $100 rescinded incorrectly (since I had done what the bank requested, which was to pay off prior to a later date), and had promised to follow up with another department to try and get the credit re-instated.
Today, I called in to see the status on the check and was
told by the first agent that it had been sent, he sent me to a second who told
me it had been reduced to $11, and then he sent me to a manager who told me
there was no check and that while he felt I was entitled to a refund it was
simply too late since the account was now closed!
He asked that I write a letter to the company rehashing our call, and that then they might send me the refund that I was admittedly due. ARE YOU KIDDING?!!
