Watch this fella, he is an arrogant git who bullies passengers. We live in Napa and have been on this trip before so when our 26 yr old son, our 23yrs daughter and her Greek Cyp boyfriend visited from the UK, we mentioned this cruise.Captain Markos rep (who is also the captain's daughter) gave us a flyer advertising the trip as 10 euros and on it, it says food is also available. My daughter asked the price and was told if they booked for the following day, they get discount on the bbq which is a further 8 euros but if they booked on the day of sailing the price jumps back to 10 euros so in total for the bbq and cruise it's 20 euros. Daughter asked are they allowed to take their own food and my wife said no but the rep. corrected her and said no problems that it was allowed.

Next morning, day of the trip, my wife packed them a cool box full of goodies and we dropped them off at the harbour only to get a tearful telephone call from our daughter who said that the boat captain had belittled them in front of other passengers and refused to allow them on the boat with the cool box and would not offer a refund! He ranted at them about taking food to his restaurant and when it was pointed out that his rep. had confirmed bringing own food was acceptable, he went ballistic and denied she would say that?? There was definately no breakdown of communication by his rep.daughter the day before and that can be borne out by the fact that other passengers who brought their own lunches in via cool box or carrier bag had their lunches confiscated like children at school! At least they were allowed on board because our trio who were one of the first to get to the Markos, were not allowd on board with the cool box at all. We had to dash back, retrieve the cool box and shell out 30 euros so the trio would be able to eat.

We then drove round to tackle the rep. who said that cool boxes and blatant carrier bags of food were not allowed on board and that it was our fault for bringing the cool box. It was pointed out that she did not say this the day previously and she said well, that really food wasn't allowed but they turned a blind eye if it was sneaked in by back-pack?? Eh....she did NOT mention this yesterday. Lastly, she admitted that the flyers were misleading and that at the captain's own request, they had taken off any information about not allowing food. Obviously, it's within their interests to mislead people and let them think that the trip is just 10 euros and for those who are strapped for cash bring your own food is favourable. Be ware! If seen, you will be ranted at, bullied and humiliated and then have to shell out 10 euros more per person or go hungry. After the boat sailed, the arrogant bully then announced over the tannoy that he did not like the passengers on this days cruise and that they were arrogant. He ranted on for some time and said that he knew the passengers did not like him and if that's the case, they could get off his boat at any point. He knew he had them all held to ransom as how the hell can people be expected to get off on a sailing boat or even at any of the docking points. Most tourists will not know the area or find their way back. One old dear was so upset she complained. When the boat reaches the Famagusta line it can go no further so he proceeds to sail along it and uses the tannoy for his propoganda rant about the Turks. His final insult of the day was to speak to my daughter's b/f in Greek Cypriot asking why he was with a Brit girl and why was he speaking English!!! Cheeky git. Andreas (b/f) defended my daughter and told this bully to watch his mouth. Speaking English is not an insult to Andreas's roots. Boat captain loves British money though aye?

I'm not suggesting boycotting this boat but merely relating an awful experience. people can make up their own minds about taking this trip but there are other boats with, hopefully, polite crew who do the same cruise possibly without the political propaganda tannoyed at the green line. Should people wish to cruise with Capt. Markos, they will now be aware of the food rules and that they are letting themselves in for an arrogant, rude captain who MAY fall well short of giving them a pleasurable day out.
