Well, I have tried to work it out again for the same problem with car hops so-called lending company UAC. I was sent a letter telling me to pay by August 5,2008 to be in good standing. However when I called UAC, Tammy was rude, Sagel seemed to be clueless so I was transferred to TREVOR the wannabe intimidator.

He proceeded to tell me in a more than firm loud tone that I was late paying, when was I going to pay and that I had signed a contract. He didnt care that the car was inoperable and I was only 3 weeks late and prior to this had a great payment history with them, the car is half paid for.

TREVOR and TAMMY both said the letter didnt matter and that I needed to pay now or I wouldnt be driving! HA! Driving what for almost a month the car has been sitting in the driveway, dead. I will be showing this letter to the attorney general in my state. I told UAC I would be willfully relinquishing the car to them, for the price I have paid so far for this car, it should already be paid off in full.

At the full price, I could've had 2 cars of the same make and model. Well, live and learn. Soon I will be buying a brand new car. But I fully intend do my best to get the word out about car hop and UAC and see if an investigation can be started on both , who are one in the same as far as I am concerned. Next time I wont be so desparate for 4 wheels. Stay away from car hop .

I am not late but having some what of the same issues, They were suppose to cancel my auto pay and I called in enough time to change my bank account information and for it to come out of a new account- being I thougth they did there jobs right- I paid them on my payday, next thing I knew they took out a another payment 2 days late. When I called I got Crystal who was very rude and clueless, all of there reps are dumb and rude, and need better training. I told them I talked to rep who said they canceled the auto pay and pmt would come out of new account. to make a long story short they have 2 pmts from me and my bank was charged a NSF fee for 2nd pmt that wasnt supppose to come out, and they won't cancel 2nd pmt and credit me $35 for bank fee, spend 2 days and still doing it, and calling them, at this point, I am half way paid off- pulse the car has tons of body work and work it self that needs to be done to it, it might break down.car hope and UAC and the employees are worthless,

Just read this, and while you are behind, you did make an attempt to contact and explain to UAC.  I am not behind in my payments, and have been spoken to in not so nice terms.  There are laws against UAC/Car Hop practices.  They sell junk.  They mislead and misrepresent.  A lot of us have learned from our experiences with this place, and hopefully, they will one day be shut down.  I fully intend to help that day come quickly.

So are you saying since you paid on it regularly for a year it is okay to pay a month or so late? Than I guess if you are working for someone or collecting Gov assistance for a year and things get slow it would be okay not to pay you for a month or so also?

Its not a matter of not paying, when contacted by mail uac wants to work with you to keep your business and for you to call them. But when you call to set up arrangements, you are talked to in a threatening mannner and even told to go sell blood or do temp work on your day off. The issue isnt the ability to catch up for the last months payment , I was willing to pay that. But there are fair debt collection laws that uac have broken. I was willing to get back on track with the payments to uac but after the strong language, intimidation and being told by uac the letters they send to my home are null and void, I am tired of the game playing. They send out letters that they dont abide by and claim not to know of any such letter. Car repairs are costly, people become ill, fall behind on bills to pay other bills, so no one should judge anyone elses plight. Asking a loan company to extend your car note for one month when you have faithfully being paying on time for well over a year is no sin nor unreasonable. I as an individual have legal recourse too. Dont try and make it appear that I cant or wont pay uac, theres more to it than that. I appreciate your 2 cents but thats why we have arbitration, attorneys and judges. Thanks.

So what's the ripoff?

You're late on payment and they want their money? No rip off there - unless you don't plan on paying them their money. Finance companies don't sell it to you or fix your cars. They only gave you the ability to buy it.
