I went to CareCredit to pay for some dental work as they offered no interest for 18 months. I spend around 1200 the first time i used the card and made regular payments. They were usually smaller payments but more of them. I sent them money every 2 weeks or so and was at least 200$ over what i should have paid. Way ahead of the scheduled no interest time. I was down to about 300$ left when I added 900$ more to the card and continued making payments. But because I missed 1 payment date they stopped the no interest and dropped a 300$ interest fee on me raising my balance over 1500$$ now wait a minute and charge me 2 late fees for missing the first and a second which was early and a little short but only because they added the extra and made my payment higher. Now after months and months of paying them MORE than I owed I owe them more than I started. This is ROBBERY.

I have called them 20 times only getting them on the phone 2 times and 1 of those times they called me to get a payment that was already made.

The first call went very bad. The guy was extremely rude and just told me to refer back to my dentist. Saying my dentist changed the policy and thats why they were charging me the interest. He wouldn't listen to me at all and when i asked for a supervisor he just laughed at me and said i could call all day and not get anyone. What the %*@ are you kidding me.

The second call went a little better. He called me to get a payment that I already made thru my bank(as most my payments) and they actually realized they got once on the phone. The guy was nice and listened to me(even when i got a little heated). The result, however, was the same. He just told me there was nothing he could do and no one else i could talk to. During the call I confirmed with him that I had been a great customer and have been paying MORE than the amount on a regular basis.

I agree I missed one payment but only by a week and i had just sent a small payment 2 weeks before the due one and was WAY over my amount due for the last 4 payments at least. He 100% agreed with me but said he could not get rid of finance charges.(He did remove a late fee. Gee thanks 300$ or 35$ mmmm really big help removing a late fee that I didn't owe in the first place) He said it was policy once its there it's there and he could not remove. What because you jumped the gun and added charges when POLICY is 2 missed payment and I only missed one but you did it already so now im just out of luck. No way.

So why did I get charged 300$ and 2 35$ late fees all because I missed one payment (that i was really over on) and was short on a second because of the added fees. And they cant do anything about it?? Now the interest will keep growing I paid 200$ when I saw the bill with late fee on it (only way i knew anything about ANY OF THIS, no call no notice, just BAMMM! $300 and a late fee) and another 100$ a week later and now I am still over the total i owed in the first place. Higher than it has ever been and I was way ahead on payments. Are you joking.

Now calls goto an automated system that never lets you talk to anyone. Well it could be a flagged account for the call center as I did get to them once and never again after I asked to speak to supervisor. But I cant get any help. I just got my credit going and hate to get it blotched up by some thieves. They even called from a "PRIVATE" phone # the 2 times they called. Once at midnight seriously and I didn't answer the 2nd the next afternoon and described above.

I need help I don't want to pay these guys anymore than the original amount. This is just unfair and unjust charges and now even tho i had several more month to pay without interest i am back at square one and owe them more. I am mad and want to do anything I can to stop this business from taking anymore money from me or anyone else.

Late Payment

As you listed above, you were late on a payment. Banks are in business for a reason...To make money. I'm not trying to be sarcastic, but you are one of the people that slipped up and must pay finance charges. There are thousands of people who have gotten the year deal, paid everything off, and were never charged a dime. Unfortunately, money isn't free, and if it weren't for people not being able to pay the money within a year, or someone paying late...There wouldn't be an institution to finance medical/dental work. It appears that insurance wasn't an option here, so...you couldn't have gotten the work done if there wasn't a company there to finance it. I agree, there is fine print that can really hurt people, but that is with all financial institutions. At least they don't have the practice some other large banks have. You are late with a payment to another creditor, they put you at 29%, even though you've never been late with them.

This is how these companies make their money. You miss a payment, you've lost. Hey, the way I look at it, you don't make your payment on time, you pay through the nose. I don't necessarily agree with it being so much more than what the work costs, but hey, how much more do you pay on a 30 year mortgage? Just like credit cards, you miss a payment with one, you can pay a higher APR with another. This is how they get you. I am sorry about your situation but they have you by the...well you get it. Just pay it and try to find a job that gives you full benefits.
