This is great....now that read all of these reports....I too have fallen for this scam. I have responded to a job, unknown company name, only location description-as Orlando area. My biggest concern though....is the reference info I gave. Should I now inform my past bosses & my friends they could now be receiving telemarketing calls & spam mail?

Just to inform everyone...I have received another inquiry to my online posted resume, from Gallium Careers...Rest assure I will NOT respond to that one no matter how appealing the job sounds!

When posting your resume online does anyone know how to tell the legit job offers? What & when to respond to job offers?

Creepier yet is wondering just WHO it is that is able to see my resume!

I pride myself in not being duped, but I was contacted by Career Network, Inc. (portions of email to me pasted below) after I responed to what sounded like a great Assistant job at a high salary, that should have been the clue in this economy, but Executive Assistants can earn up to $58K in California. He posed the job in the Orange County section in California, which may have been a mistake. Big mistake for him, my last permanent position with a lender was investigating fraud and helping identity theft victims for a lender before the succumbed to the economic crises. I can directly link Career Network with the ad response as they copied the exact title from the craigslist ad back into the response that said, your resume is going to be passed along with a link, which sounds the same, it has, of course, the pages included, the typical college ads, insurance ads, then it got to the personal references. Since monster and others do ask about the college education, etc., it is difficult to tell it is a possible scam at this point, but when I got to the personal and work reference pages, I knew. Think about it, legitmate agencies, and employers, and even legitimate on-line agencies you never met (www.cybercoders.com is a legitimate on-line recruity agency, with real reps who work one-on-one with you via email much like going to an agency office, they're great.), never ever ask for personal info of others you know, until you are speaking to a live person about the job, or in person. An actual interviewer. I filled in dummy info, so that I could get thorugh the application, as they obviously already had my info when I sent my resume on. The only thing you can do to stop them is report to the sources they use, so that eventually they will get blocked. I will be reporting the add to craigslist, as they can block the account set up with this. And also reporting on here. But, they can set up new info and start again. I should know better as fraudsters don't steal just an identity such as a license, etc., they make composite people, with someone's social, someone elses name, and other's work records. You have to check your credit report. The sad thing is once a bogus record gets on, the most difficult thing to correct, is not the bogus loans or financial information, it is the bogus address locations. You wouldn't believe some of the things I saw while working in conjunction with the Secret Service, FBI and Homeland Security. I do my best to report, and craigslist is even thinking of partnering with legal agencies now, when I spoke to them last, rather than just blocking from their site. All legitimate want and appreciate reporting. Here is the email response I received, and of course my response to this email came back as a bad email address, but a name is listed related to this company. I will be doing futher reporting, as they are gathering other information, this is the first one I've seen doing that with the friends, but it may be just to have a bigger database to advertize. I always wonder if they ever get anyone to buy into the ads, if they don't steal identity info, I can't see them making money on the advertisements at all. ----- Forwarded Message ---- From: "[email protected]" To: Sent: Friday, October 17, 2008 5:59:51 AM Subject: Regarding your application for the Executive Assistant - To $58K/yr position.
