CareSoft Inc Victimized due to illness Edison New Jersey
My husband worked for CareSoft for approximately one month. About 2 weeks into that month, he was diagnosed with pneumonia and it was agreed by both the company he was assigned to and apparently CareSoft that he would be allowed to work from his hotel room until he recovered in order to meet his deadlines. He worked a minimum of 40 hours. He returned to the job site after a week and worked another minimum 40 hours before he was informed that the government contract he was working on was lost by the company. He lost his job on March 16th. CareSoft took it upon themselves to decide he was not to be paid for that last week. He was cheated out of his final paycheck, which he badly needed because CareSoft, who was actually billing the company for his services that week and every week he was employed refused to pay him. Their claim was that since he was not working on site for the week he was ill, he was not entitled to a paycheck that week. But since he was already paid they would just steal his last paycheck to repay "them(?)" for the week he was not on site. They had already been paid by the company for that week and every week he was employed so what right did they have to keep his last paycheck? Isn't it illegal to deny someone pay as a result of illness? At least in New Jersey it is. It makes me wonder how many other people have been screwed this way by CareSoft. He is now in another state struggling to survive because the company he was supposed to go to work for is jerking him around about his start date. If CareSoft had done what they were supposed to, instead of cheating him out of his pay, he would not be struggling.
