Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
My family and I were treated less than animals should be treated by the Carnival Glory staff on August 3, 2008. We were labeled vip guests on this ship but that status certainly changed quickly. The ship was docked in Nassau and although the excursion had caused us to be a few minutes late getting back to the ship after a ship-sponsored excursion (I have advanced osteoporosis so I walk a little slower than most people and we stopped on the way back to the ship to get something to drink --90+ degrees that day) the ship was still at the dock and close enough where we could have boarded, but the Carnival Glory staff refused to let us board. They saw us and we saw them. We also saw a lot of people on the upper deck and they saw us. There was absolutely no reason they couldn't let us onbaord. Ship personnel ignored our cries of despair and watched me as I fell to my knees in anguish and horror when the ship started to leave without us. They even laughed at us. We were left in a foreign country without my anti-seizure medication, my heart medication, my medical alert necklace, no money, no credit cards, clothing, etc. The trauma we experienced is beyond belief. On top of the $7,000 I spent for this cruise we had to phone home and borrow a credit card from my children's aunt for another $3,000 just for flights to Miami and then onto St Thomas for the three of us (where we could re-board the ship and retrieve our belongings) and hotel rooms in both Nassau and St Thomas (because the ship was going to be at sea for two days). My son had some pocket change and we were able to share a meal in McDonalds in Nassau. I was having mini seizures all night without my anti-seizure medicine and my son was having horrific nightmares about being left behnd again. Believe me, we would have loved to just go home, but as I've said, my anti-seizure medication was on board along with 3 other medications as well as our laptob computer, cell phone, jewelry, credit cards, money etc were on that ship. It was a lot of fun going to the airport too without having brushed our teeth, our hair and being in the same bathing suit for three days - complete humiliation is an understatement. We have been customers of Carnival for many years and I'm shocked and appalled at the behavior of the Glory Staff. When we did get back onboard the ship, many Carnival guests approached us to say they were glad we were back - they recognized us as the people who weren't aloud to reboard the ship in Nassau. One particular gentlemen recognized us right away and said that he watched the whole event take place at the dock from the deck of the ship -- this guy was closed to 70 years old and if it was that easy for him to see us I'm absolutey sure ship personnel that we waved to saw the scenario take place as well. I'm a single mom and this was supposed to be our last vacation together as a family since my daughter starts college next year. I'm not in great health (had a brain aneurysm surgery 3 years ago) and i wanted this vacation to be special. If I'm able to get some of my money back maybe I can take them to Cape Cod so they don't have this nightmare of a trip with Carnival the last vacation they remember. Thanks for listening.
