I have a child working at cedar point currently. This is not her first job. Infact, this is her first "unprofessional" job. She actually gave up her some what corporate job to have "fun" this summer and meet some friends. However, it has been far from fun for her.
First of all we drove her to Cedar Point which is over 3 hours away to register, move in and begin work. But it didnt go that smoothly at all. We get that there are over 3,000 employees. (not everyone starts the same day) Her 12:30 registration turned into 5pm. She even mentioned that there were people there that had 11am appointments. Still waiting to be seen. The company didnt even offer to feed these kids that have been waiting for hours to sign in/register as an employee. After being pushed around for hours, she finally got to move her things in after 8pm. We love that the park provides the uniforms and washes them for you however kids are forced to purchase wind breakers and sweat shirts on their own. Which ends up being over $45. Not to mention you are to wear 90% all white shoes while on the job. Does any one realize how hard it is to find a good shoe that is mostly all white at a reasonable price? Its not easy.
So my child has been on the job for over 2 weeks now. and every call from her is heart breaking. Her supervisor constantly harrassing her, follwoing her and scolding her for things she has not done. Not to mention these other kids/supervisors in charge are not out on the grounds working as well. They sit in the break rooms face timing, face booking and threating my kid saying i'm supervising you, i'm watching you. Now its getting into alittle bit of harrasment. I'm not there but i know my child is not a slacker. She loves working and loves being in this type of environment to meet all different kinds of people. I doubt she will return next summer. Supervisors and "leads" do not work!!!!!!!. they simply harrass other employees to do their jobs to make them look better.
As an attorny myself, they are going to have themselves a law suite or big big complaint if they dont stop harassing employees that are doing their jobs. My child is not the only one complaining.
