We were first contacted by Centex in November, 2004. It is now February, 2005, and there is still no closing scheduled. We paid for an appraisal, sent all the forms in--often several times, because they kept getting misplaced. But it gets much better than that. In November, we were told to "stop paying our mortgage", because Centex was going to refinance us "any day". In December, we were told closing is "days away", and had a tentative date of 12/27. 12/27 came and went, and no closing. Ditto 1/31/04, despite repeated similar assurances in between.

We sent the documents they requested several times. Always got lost or misplaced. Sent some documents triple. Always told closing was "days away", but 3 months later we aren't near to close.

Now, 3 months later, they are ordering our taxes from the IRS and want us to fill out that form--for the SECOND time--just to make sure we're not lying. All this for a variable interest loan with worst terms than our first?

For a company so en-guard about dotting the "i"s with us, they still haven't sent a good faith RESPA, despite being asked to several times.

My word: watch out for this company. In my opinion, they tell people closing is "days away" and "don't pay your mortgage", because they want to make you ruin your relationship with your primary mortgage company. That way, you have no choice but to refinance with them.

Watch out for this company. That is all I ask.

To make a short story long. i was in the market to refinance and used lending tree to broaden my choices. Centex was on their smart list. I spoke to a rep representative. I was very direct and clear on what i was looking for and told him i was shopping and if he couldn't compete, no harm no foul. he took my info and was truly a salesman whom tried to wow me with non related self endorsement. I went along to see if he could meet my needs. we concluded our conversation and he said he would get back. I was very clear i didn't want to be called at work. I was stupid to give that number out when asked. Of course i was called at work by one of his ssociates. She was polite and said she would call me at home.. she never did. I recieved their good faith estimate via us-mail. What drove me to write here was the unmitigated gaul they had in their estimate. I have over a 700 credit score which is good. Their clsoing costs were more than my closing costs at original purchase 10%.. and their rate was 3% higher. I was insulted but quickly, moved on with a chuckle. I think its imporartant for me to write again since there are unsuspecting honest trusting non informed people whom might get caught in their web. My feeling is that like tin men they have throw out these riduclously high refinances and what have you and people have bitten or why else would they take the time and effort to mail me such. reading all the complaints here and other sites.. after enron and other unscrupulous activity in our corporate world, people need ot be informed and protected. I don't suspect what they did to me was illigal since no harm no foul.. but it was an unscrupulous greedy attempt. MY ADVISE IS TO STEER CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS
