Ouch! 65 years old and nerver been treated this badly, by any company. I wanted to drive instead of retiring and connected with Austin Carpenter,a recruiter for Central Refrigerated Service, Inc. After a week or so of on-line forms. DMV checks, and background checks I was cleared to go to their training in Salt Lake City. I told Austin, that I did not want to go 2000 miles away and have their physical and not pass for some reason, and asked if I could get a DOT physical locally so I would be sure. I paid and passed the physical and the recruiter said over and over you're covered just get on the bus everything will be fine.
I have high blood pressure and take Lysinopril to control it. I told Austin this and of course he said as long as I had my DOT physical there would be nothing to worry about. Lysinopril works very well however in the morning it takes an hour or so to kick in. So after 2 and 1/2 days and 2 nights of bus travel with almost no sleep I arrived at their facility, and checked in to the "jail cell", a 7' x 9' actual old cell block with one bunk bed and one chair only, but all I cared about was going to work.
The next morning was D day.  In the first minutes the instructors ( these guys would have made great storm trooper's) commenced to tell us that all the on-line apps meant nothing. The background checks meant nothing. My Dot Phy meant nothing. It was all starting over again and many of us would be going back home. At this point I knew my blood pressure must have been high because my blood was boiling. And right on cue, they walked up with a blood pressure cuff and took my blood pressure. I told the man mine would be high because I had just taken my meds 20 minutes ago. The cuff would not fit my arm it was too small and my doctor had told me this could effect my readings. No matter after my cross country treck and my meeting with the storm troopers I was given 5 minutes for a second reading and was sent home. I traveled 2000 miles approx. and they could not give me 30 to 60 minutes to retest.
The only words of caution I have for other recruits wanting to go here is this. The recruiters are liars plan and simple. They just want to fill up the class knowing many will be sent home. You may want to take the chance, but be prepared you may be the next to be burned.
