Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

When signing up for my two year contract. The salesman said would fill out the paperwork and submitt it to get $20 off my home owners insurance. And since the service was only $25 a month it would only really be$5.

My homeomers ins. Is calculated into my house payment and it has not dropped $20. That was a flat out lie.

CSG would be happy to send a proof of protection certificate to your insurance company.  You can either visit our website centralsecuritygroup.com and fill out the request form or call 1-877-642-4567 and a Customer Support agent would be able to help.  Discounts vary from insurance company to insurance company but the protection CSG provides will typically yield a discount of up to 20%.

The procedure is a little different when you have insurance escrows with your mortgage

I don't work for either your bank or the insurance company or the security company you hired. But I know how this process is handled in general.

As a homeowner you can change your homeowners insurance policy at any time as long as it meets the minimum criteria required by the lender for your loan. This includes shopping for the best rate for insurance and obtaining discounts that may be available to you such as a security system discount. Make sure that the item you have purchased, in this case a security system, meets the criteria for discount. You would get this info from your insurance agent. The guy selling the system is not likely to know what discount is available, if any at all. He is just a sales rep.

[Caution here: if you shop other companies do not at any time go uninsured with your homeowners ins - it is a default in your mortgage loan if you do and the lender can put on 'force-placed insurance' so you want to make sure you are continuously covered even when switching companies.]

It is up to you to contact your insurance company and find out what paperwork they need from the security system company to show you have a system. You are the person that files the paperwork with your insurance company. They in turn will adjust the insurance bill the next time it is due to be paid from your escrows held by your lender. Usually the insurance is a one year policy pre-paid in advance 60 days before the policy end date. You should also receive a credit from the insurance company for the security system off your current pre-paid balance remaining on your insurance. That credit can be either issued to you directly or as a credit to your next billing. Ask your insurance company for details.

Ultimately the security system company does not fill out the paperwork for your bank or your insurance company - you do. The paperwork they provide is the security system paperwork showing type and date installed and other specifications of the system itself.
