We,as are many other areas, under a complete monopoly where cable TV is concerned. Our provider is Charter Communications and they are HORRIBLE. Everyone I know has horror stories about them.

Recently my sister in law sent in a check for her cable services to them without including her billing statement. She received her check back in the mail with a hand written letter stating that if she was not willing to take the time to send in a statement, they were not willing to take the time to process it. How crazy is that????

Some of the problems I have had personally... We called in a pay per view football game (on more than one occasion this has occurred) and never received it until at least the 4th quarter, and were still billed the entire price of the game (regardless of complaining).

The cable rates continuously go up with less than 30 days notice. They always report to us that our "promotional deal" has run out, and we have never ordered such a "deal." Any time we have had to call customer service, they are the rudest and least willing to help individuals I have ever dealt with. The whole company is awful. We are about to go with the DISH network, just as most of our neighbors have done.

How Charter stays in business, I'll never know.

PS In our city, Hoover, Alabama, Charter has already gotten into trouble for their horrible customer service.
