Charter One Bank ripoff dishonest fraudulent billing illegal service fees the business that doesnt give a dam Cleveland Ohio
charter One Bank located in Northern Ohio is a rip off artist. I deposited a check to cover my bills, at the same time several hours later my checks were cleared for my bill paying. Because I didn't depsoit my check before 3:00 pm I was charged 29.50 for each check I wrote. By the time my retirement check was deposited some 11 days later they took a total of 472.86 from my account.
I was told that I was given the fees and charges at the time of opening the account, but; i was not given this information until I received my ATM card in the mail some 10 days later. In the information were the fees and charges on page 6 of the instructions. Like most people I did not take the time to read all of this information.
I emailed the bank and ask that they remove these fees because I was not told about them. I then ask them to reduce the fees because 29.50 a day was too much for the fee. They refused, so please don't open a free checking account at Charter One Bank, oh yes the free checking is not free. I was told that if I use my ATM card to buy gas, etc. I would not bee charged a fee, but; if you use the ATM card you are charged 1.00 for each time you use it, so its not free at all. It is very deceptive and illegal and they are fooling a lot of people.
