Charter One Bank unreal rip off fees Webster New York
i opened a checking account at charter one bank in webster new york less then a month ago. i deposited money in the account and began to use my mastercard debit card . i was told this card is not a charge card , it only gives you money that is in your checking account period....... well i got a statement saying i owed 700.00 in late fees?????????? i had only deposited 200.00 to begin with, so i was totally confused.
come to find out they are saying that at one point i made a check card purchase for gas, i also made a deposit that same day in cash in the morning, and charter one is saying i didn't have enough funds in my account? well then why was i able to make the purchase?
ok so i was willing to pay the 30.00 fee. but as a result of the fee every single transaction i made after that i was charged a 30.00 fee. i deposited enough money in the bank. but still i was charged, and on top of everything the biggest problem was i was being charged 30.00 every 4 days untill the balance they say i owed was paid.
i called them and i wrote to them over and over again. and asked that the fees stop. of course they did not. i asked them to close my account and thats when i got the shock of my life. they told me that they will not close the account , untill the balance is paid, so that meant every 4 days the 30.00 fees kept building and building. i told them we live in america, you mean to tell me i do not have the right to close an account of mine if i want to.
the bottom line is i now at the present owe charter one 700.00 and the fee are still building, i will never be able to catch up and pay my current bills. thanks to charter one bank
