I like so many others am disgusted with the treatment that I receive from Cingular customer service. Don't get me wrong , I have talked to some nice people that are just doing their job.

I am a former AT&T customer that was brought into Cingular in the merger. When the merger took place, they ran full page ads in national magazines and newspapers as well as mailing to customers individually a promotional piece promising that AT&T customers would never be forced to change their palns and would never be treated any differently than the Cingular customers. In fact they said that there we would notice nothing but better service.

Instead I have been treated as a second class citizen since the merger. When I tried to change my number to a local number whrn I moved, they told me that though the service would be free for Cingular customers, I would have to pay a $50 fee per line (4 lines) to switch numbers.

Even though I have been out of contract for 2 years now they will not let me upgrade my phone unless I switch to one of their less for more plans. I am more than willing to switch if they give me the same deal which I was promised I could keep. Now they tell me that if I don't switch by February, I will be turned off.

You can tell from all of the posts all over the internet that they are a very arrogant company that doesn't care anything about customer service or honoring their word. Just what this world needs, another company that can't be trusted to keep their word.

Does anyone know anyone at headquarters that we can flood with text messages or emails or phone calls. These people don't deserve to get off so easy.

The merger you are talking about happened Nov 2004

>> I am more than willing to switch if they give me the same deal which I was promised I could keep << This promise was made Nov 2004, every company moves forward. Now it is almost 3 years later. As long as you had your at&t ( pre Nov 2004) you were allowed as long as you wanted to keep the plan you had that is true, but if you need a new phone the old at&T didn't exist anymore , ergo no more at&t phones were produced and you needed a cingular phone or new at&T phone, with this you need a new plan, plain and simple. Different billing systems. old at&t plans don't work with cingular phones. It is like apple and oranges, as long as the apples are good you can eat them, once they go bad and you have to either eat oranges or go to a different farmer and buy new apples there. Now if you had a cingular phone and plan, and you want to get a new phone, you can keep the plan you had, unless you had a plan under $ 29.99. The store does not have access to those plans but you can call customer service and ask if they can upgrade you in the store and put your old plan back on.
