Circuit City Fraudulent Mail-In Rebate Offer, NO Rebate Received ripoff Coral Springs Florida
My boyfriend did a sweet thing and bought me an Acer Aspire 5102 Notebook PC for Christmas. The purchase was made on 12/22/2006.
Upon making the purchase he was given mail-in rebate forms from Circuit City for a $100 rebate. After filling out the forms, we made sure to make photocopies of both the forms and receipt before mailing them.
The rebate form said to wait at least 8 weeks for the rebate to be processed. After 8 weeks, there was no rebate check, so I called and was told by the customer rep that they sent it [the check] to the wrong zipcode. He then said that they would issue another check and we will receive it in 7-10 business days.
Three weeks after that we called, because SURPRIZE---still no check! Another customer rep told us that they sent it to the WRONG STREET right before stating "We'll issue you another check and you'll receive it within 7-10 business days". Both stories that the reps told us were completely absurd because the mail-in rebate form had the CORRECT ADDRESS, printed by their instore checkout computer which was very legible.
In lieu of being persistant with Circuit City, a couple of friends told me that Circuit City has done the same stall tactic with them also and that they never got their rebates. After another 2 weeks, I called City Rebates again this morning (May 8, 2007) and they said the check had been sent to "be printed" on April 23, 2007 (whatever that means), which was the date of the last time we called. The 3rd customer rep, now female, gave me the same rap about "wait another 7-10 business days". I told her that I no longer beieve anything Circuit City reps have to say, and that she was telling me lies.
It has been almost 6 months and Circuit City HAS NOT sent the rebate check that was promised in 8 weeks. The fact that Circuit City hires people to defraud customers seriously puts a bad taste in my mouth and I will never purchase ANYTHING from them again.
