I went into this roof replacement in good faith. I just wanted a properly installed roof that would not leak and meet all the requirements to satisfy the material manufacturer's warranties provided by you. I also needed to satisfy my homeowners insurance. From the beginning I pointed out some past and potential future problems that need to be addressed. I provided documents from Joey Bossom an adjuster for The Republic Group, my homeowner’s insurance provider. Roofer agreed to replace my roof on the basis of these documents. He agreed to provide a 30 year architectural shingle roof following the adjuster’s guidelines. At this time I decided to address additional issues on my roof so that I would not have to work on the roof again in my lifetime. I requested an additional estimate to replace the shingle siding on the south wall upstairs and replace the fascia on the gable. Roofer provided me with an estimate to replace my roof that would take care of all these issues for$7,500.00, along with an estimate in the amount of $1,400.00 for the additional work for the shed for a total of $8,900.00. I accepted the estimate and hand delivered check #8347 in the amount of $3,750.00, as a deposit and work proceeded as agreed upon. Installation of the roof began, at the end of day 1 and 2 issues arose that I brought to roofers attention as follows: 1. No flashing under the Hardy board siding 2. The valley was done in multiple pieces instead of 1 piece 3. The fascia on the front of the north side was damaged 4. All the flat flashing was nailed and sealed with silicon 5. The Freon line on the AC was broken. Also, the roof of the shed was not replaced that was to be part of the original agreement for $7,500.00, you stated it was an oversight on your part, but that you would have to get an additional $200.00, for the labor. I agreed to the additional $200.00, which brought the total for the job to $9,100.00. Roofer said and I quote, “I want you to be Happy” After a week of the workers attempting to patch and repair these issues and still not being correct, I decided it was in my best interest to seek out other professionals to access the quality of the workmanship provided by the company. The work was evaluated by Craig Gironda of American Men Roofing with 38 years of experience and Chris Brennan of Brennan’s Roofing with 64 years of experience in the roofing business. Their evaluations confirm my suspicions. According to both, the entire roof of the house and shed along with the Hardy board siding was installed and nailed improperly voiding the material manufactures warranties, also potentially voiding my insurers obligation to insure my home. I also have a photo journal provided by Brennan’s Roofing documenting the inferior workmanship. In order for me to have a roof that will be warranted I have to replace the entire roof on both the house and shed along with the Hard.
