CL Barnes isn't just another furniture store.( No there here to rip-off your time looking ) It is a family owned business that has served the Washington Metropolitan area since 1943.

Cedric L. Barnes opened the doors to his first furniture store 58 years ago with a goal to offer customers the best possible product for the price.( True NOT HELL YOU SHOW UP AT STORE AND SAY YOU SEEN IT ON INTERNET AND THEY HAVE A WEB SIGHT THE KNOW NOTHING ABOUT) His legacy still lives on today through his son, Renny.

Barnes sold me some gorgeous furniture for a great deal. In my last round of furniture, I was sold a fake warranty plan in which Barnes withheld paperwork. Without paperwork, you could do use the plan. They assume no one will use the plan. And if they try, they will not have the paperwork -- in other words, it is money in their hands they fleece from customers. I fought it and got my refund. Barnes was rude, snarky till the very end. I guess I was not surprised to see they have gone out of business.

I will not comment on some fabricated report by a so called editor who claims to have spent $1000 investigating something he made up in the first place. I can only hope people see this website for what it really is- a scam designed to smear good legitimate companies while asking for money from unsuspecting consumers.

Dear Mr. Barnes,

Thank you for your response, which you claim is no response. Let the facts speak for themselves;
1) you had an unhappy customer,
2) you ignored reason from that person,
3) they came to us for help, and
4) we researched your company and discovered you do NOT conduct business appropriately.

Pursuant to your allegation that we "smear good legitimate companies," that is a gratuitous assertion which you do not substantiate, so it is dismissed just as gratuitously.

Additionally, you assert that we asked money from an unsuspecting customer. We made no such request. This is simply a feeble attempt to divert attention from your immoral advertising practices.

Finally, you claim that we made up this story. Well, Mr. Barnes, put your money where your mouth is. We will publish the identity of at least one individual and provide documentation of commissions that were stolen from employees and given to others who were willing to trade them for sex and publish it on the website. In exchange, you will reimburse us for our expenses in terms of man-hours and cost to post the information on the website. We have dedicated a total of $1,342.00 in employee time, and it will cost an additional $439.00 to post the documents on this website. In case you don't have your calculator, that totals $1,781.00.

We doubt we will ever hear from you again because you are as phony as the advertisements you publish.

I want to let you know that you owe NO thanks to Mr. Barnes or his General Manager. They had no intention of helping you until we twisted their arm. I don't know if you looked at your website, but we took a great interest in your case. Barnes had responded and wasn't going to give in. We expended nearly 9 man-hours on your case; finding victims, interviewing them, report writing, nearly $1,000 voluntarily. (By the way, repositories of information, but not the Better Business Bureau, from former complainants on these types of companies can be very helpful.)

I want you to know that Mr. Barnes, et al, had no intention of helping you until we produced our information; former employees that would be able to testify in court, should it have come to that, about their routine advertising deception and interestingly of sexual harassment. This company definitely has skeletons to hide.

We reaffirm our position as the "victim's advocate," however, there is a more than enough reason for it in this case. We not only have the testimony of credible witnesses that provide plenty of evidence that this company does employ "bait & switch" tactics in sales, but also former employee also has informed us that two situations occur;

1) if an advertised special did not come in, the sales staff was instructed to tell them that it was already sold out and to direct them to something else, and

2) if there is a radio advertisement, for which there is no evidence, to deny the advertisement and direct them to something else.

Additionally, we have the testimony of former employees that know this company's dirty little secrets; sexual harassment in the guise of sex for other salespersonnel's commissions.

This company needs to either provide these customers with the deals they advertised, or pay them for their trouble and time.


Let this be a open form and see how your managment skills are do to your managment that run you stores can not even tell me anything about the ad's on net

You and your managment team.( refused to talk) I called this morning and at 12 noon, and left you MR.Barnes a message to call, you decided not to call. So we will post it here The
BBB has you in not responding to the outstanding complains, I know the BBB works for you, the buissness and not for comusumers.

You have to know that your managment team asked me this afternoon @ 1:30PM if I am recordthem, I said no, should I be?. He then said the ad's on net are ther just to get people in to your store. Like a bait and switch.

So stop in to store Gale said she help my wife and myself .
Well I asked about 50% off sale on internet. Well she "said she know nothing about it and will not inquire about it". I was very surprised that this day and age if you know nothing about internet why be on it. So ask for management Terry (and Joann in Alex store)came forth and same thing we do not have a computer. Ask if I "do you have the ad". What a surprised
to find this out they do not have access to Internet or information about there own ad's. So called Alexandria store (main office) told the same thing, (Joann)and they plan to be on the computer in stores 2002 sometime.

I have left messages to call me and management and owner Mr. Barnes have failed to call or leave any message.

The consumer who has posted this information on your site has not clearly stated his or her issue with our company, however I would be happy to try to resolve any issue they have if given the opportunity.
