Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I recenty took my daughter to our city mall for a modeling competion. We signed up at the mall in a box that were placed all around the mall. We received a phone call asking her to come in for an audition. At this audition, she memorized a line and walked the cat walk. She made it through. We were so excited. Then we had to talk about the next steps of the competion. She had to do the photo competion. We could spend 150, 50 now, to get one pose or pay all up from and get two poses. We could also pay 300 all today and get 3 poses and and photo book, which we did. At this point my husband and  thought there may be something wrong with this. However, we still went for it. We came for the photo shoot. The photo shoot seemed very unprofessional. I do realized we were in the mall, but it just didn't seem professional at all. The lighting on our pictures were off and the photographer kept stopping while taking pictures to talk to well just about everybody. Still we smiled ad carried on not wanting to upset the "professionals". The second step was the talent and third the cat walk. Our daughter did all of this. We thought it was a great opportunity for her. We met a lot of people including the photographer/owner daughter who was actually in the competion, which also through a red flag. Still we pushed on. There was so many people that audutioned and we were so nervous to get our results. Finally we received the results to find out that she won! She won a conract with Model Select Agency. Along with ALOT of other people that also won a contract. I asked myself, how is EVERYONE winning a contract? At this point we had to do a lot more research then just googling there name which nothing came of except the facebook page which started in 2013 and the actual website. We searched and searched online. We first came to find Model Productions, then Model shop, Audition America etc. with all of the same owners. This was very strange. Why does this company keep changing there name? Then I looked on ripoffreport.com where we found a lot of complaints regarding these companies with the same owner. Now we are disappointed. We then research the print company that they referred us to and what do you know same owners again. They are just out to get your money with no results. We also researched sucess stories that they claimed. None of these storeies were true. The wife of the owner is also on all the websites as a model, that they claim as a success story also part of the story. Also, lets not forget they put there own daughter in the mix as well. Also on all the websites as being represented, but as i already stated she competed for a contract. How when she is already being represented and her parent owns the company. At this point we are more than convinced that the whole act is just a made up story. We are only out $300, but i want to warn others to not get involved in this as they only want your money for the pictures, photo comp cards and they are not going to follow throuogh with the contract this will also found out on our research on here. From the research online, they will only change there names once again, so this will only be valid until a new company emerges.  Please, please please just do your research!!!! We found ALOT!!!

I have to admit that I came to Ripoffreport.com to see what kind of information I could find on Model Select Agency after receiving a notice that one of my sons won a contract.  I recently took my 3 boys to a local talent search event they had in California.  All 3 boys were "selected" to get a photoshoot and to come back for the talent portion of the search a couple weeks later.  I ended up spending $1,100 for the 3 boys ($350 each kid) to get their pictures taken.  I also knew, at that moment, that everyone was going to be "selected" and that the talent search was set up to mislead contestants.  That being said, I opted to go along with it and pay for the pictures....and I did it for a good reason.  Exactly as the owney of this company just stated, I wasn't paying for an opportunity to be discovered.  I knew I was paying for a nice set of semi-professional pictures to be taken of my kids wearing adorable outfits.  But more importantly than that, I knew I was paying for an awesome experience for my boys....and at a bargain of a price. Seriously, do any of you know how much one of the big name agencies/management companies charge to do what we got from TC Live?  We had so much fun with this whole thing. My kids got so much more out of this whole thing than just a shiny portfolio (which I'm still waiting for by the way....although we do have the disc with all the images).

I really think people who are upset with what they got or didn't get should really look at the value received for what they put into it.  Sure, they didn't have to make it seem like your child was the only one selected out of thousands....but so what.  The fact that they were "selected" at all should have given them such an invaluable boost of confidence and feeling of self-worth that they can carry into any/all other areas of their young lives! It appears that the only ones with the hurt egos here are the parents.  Once again, as the owner stated, don't rob your children of that feeling they got from this experience by bringing any negativity about it to them.

Lastly, the money is spent and you got what you paid for.  So why not happily sign the contract and see what may come from it.  Maybe nothing will....but it won't cost you any more money to find out.  All you have to pay now is a commission on any jobs they get for your kids. If no jobs, no pay.  It's a win win situation so stop complaining!

If you want to have a better chance of your children getting discovered, spend the time and money on acting/singing/music/modeling lessons and help cultivate some talent.  From what I saw, nobody in the competition had any real talent, my kids included....so really, what did you expect!

I understand what you are saying, Did you know all the judges are relatives of there kids. They are judging are kids but there kids win. There are 53 workers where they are. Forlauderdale Area. The Gallarea Mall. And they have there scouts there as well. There own kids. So we dont have a chance in heck. We need to go further like Channel 6 news. To bring this out and get our Money back parents.

Hi, I to have issues with this Company,

They changed there name to Miami fashion Board located in Fortlauderdale.

April is still one of the owners as well as her relatives. my little sibbling was with them for 2 years. I guess you spent 300.00 I spent over 18.000 going up and back to these events. I live 3 hrs away. Yes the pictures are not good I was told that by 2 agencys. Yes my little one won, and had to go on there casting website. But 6 months passed and there was no job my sibbling or age group. Only other languages they didnt speak. Yes my little one was so excited to win. But when I asked for my little one to go back to win the big Magazine Contract they said no. It woulnt be fare because my little sibbling won already and the other kids woulnt.

I wish they would of told me this when I spent all this money and time. Yes it looks like they changed there name only to have there relatives older and still modeling on stages and winning. Plus the magaszines have them more then our kids. My little sibbling was in the magazine once with other kids. There realtives took the whole pages. This book is to go out I was told to 4000 Companys. Well the sponcer I got didnt get hears in the mail. She was upset.

I think this must be checked out by the Attorney General and Consumer Report. Plus if you ae from Miami area the cubans should get together in the Dolphin Mall and kick them out. I agree on all everyone says. my little sibbling is upset but life goes on. And better things in life. You claim your Christian so am I. But Christians dont hurt little kids and take there Parents Money when they are not going to win. We have a Bad reputation and cant talk to Carolyn who is the owner of this Organization.  Miami Fashion Board thats the new name. Oh buy the way Password dont work on there site.

My mom thought c2c was a scam when after I passed the first audition we got up to the counter and all of a sudden c2c wanted money for the photo shoot and stuff. I wanted to participate so bad but my mom thought it was a scam. I kinda agree that it is suspicious because when they called me to audition they said everything was free.

Now I know this is a year late, but in side with the alleged victim consumer,  I must express my opinion in a way I feel contradicts your rebuttal. First off, I do admit I think it's highly amusing how passionate your sentences are and the use of religion on such a petty manner. Also I'd like to point out how your counter argument had no real motive besides getting "amazing pictures" and having an "amazing time". I can't assume that all you promised her for $300 was a few pictures and catwalks on a mall stage. I highly doubt you are an experienced employee in the modeling field or just didn't do your research right, because it is possible to obtain professional composite cards (which is basically like modeling photo it's self if you didn't know) under the price of $150. another thing is if you claim to have worked in the modeling business for so long, why did you being up modeling schools? A real model knows that such is a scam in fact. Modeling schools, especially John Casablanca is a scam, they collect money upfront which legitimate agencise do not do. I would know because I have done my research and had experience with such. Furthermore, shouldn't success stories be put up by the successful model theirselves, stating THEIR success? And of the 115 people chosen, tell me, what exactly happened to them after "winning" the competition? My mistake, if the reward was just having an "amazing time" with "amazing pictures".

Dear Model’s Mom,

I am VERY disappointed to hear your report.  I normally don’t respond to blogs on random sites as many of them have been written by competitors or people who have not participated in our event and just have the opinion of I should not have to pay to be in a model search.  But in this case you brought my daughter into the report, so I thought it right to explain and defend.

  1. I am failing to find what you think is a scam?? A scam is when you pay for something and you don’t receive it.  You paid to be in an event and to receive your pictures.  Both of those things you received.  And from what it sounds like your daughter was very excited about being in the event and had an amazing time.

  2. Changing the name of the tour.  I have been doing this for over 15 years, every year we change the tour, we have had 15 tours over the past 25 years.  What does that have to do with your experience at the stage?  You were in an amazing event and got amazing pictures.

  3. My Daughter being in the event.  I have my Daughter participate in the event for the same reason you should have your daughter be in the event.  To build her confidence, Build her portfolio, and build her resume.  She has already won the event and has signed with both Model Select and the Karen Greer Agency.  For you to judge what I do with my daughter is crossing the line.  The one thing that keeps me doing this is the time I get to spend watching her develop in to the young performer she is becoming.  Having someone go online and not have the guts to even say what your name is a cowardly.  Or to call me and ask me what questions you have.

  4. The amount of winners are the top 25% of the contestants.  Your Mall had over 3400 people sign up to be in the event.  We selected 475 to be in the event and had around 115 winners.

  5. Every Success Story in our books was personally placed by me or my staff.  ERVERYONE of them.  I have been placing models and booking models for over 15years.  My Event has discovered more models and actors than any other model search.

  6. Model Select:  Model select is our placement and development agency.  It is owned by April Walbdeser   There is no cost to be in the Agency.  The goal of Model Select is to get you jobs to build your resume and then sign you with larger agencies.

You put your opinion online, but this is from a person who has no idea about what it takes to get your child signed and working in the industry.   The Event I made cost $150.  You got to be in an event. You got 15 pictures and the copy right to the pictures.  You got free practices at the stage.  If you win you get one year of representation to help build your child’s resume and look for jobs for your child.

That is what you need to get started in the industry.

Pictures normally cost $350-$800

Model Searches like AMTC, IMTA,  cost over $3,000

Modeling Schools like Barbizon and John Casablanca cost over $1,500

You paid $150 to be in my event.

I challenge you to go out and find a better way to break into the industry.  My Event is the BEST.

But because my Daughter was in the event., Because I change the tour name each year.  That makes me a scam.  No…. I think you are the scam, You are a scam for stealing an opportunity from your daughter to do something she loves.  If this was Cheerleading you would not question it, If this was a dance school you would not question it,  If this was her school pictures you would pay for the pictures without question. But because of your lack of knowledge you now are scamming yourself.

The one thing you did get right in your report was your name.  You must be a very angry person.

Being Angry cost Moses in the Bible from the promise land.  I just hope your anger, does not cost your daughter from reaching her promise land.

I am not hard to find, I have been in the same place I have always been.  At my stage!!!!
