They always quote a monthly payment of X amount of dollars, then add on everything else to jack up the monthly payment. Can you say bait and switch?

these guys are the best at what they do. they tell the greatest lies, cheat and steal. they ripped my off in style but its okay. i have filed a lawsuit against them and it doesn't really matter if i get a dime or not because i have recovered from their deception. however, i feel that i've probably lost a life long friend so that's fine to because he did not care enough about our friendship to be honest with me. but don't forget pip, you came to my church to bring final papers to be signed and even lied to a number of my parishoners to make this crooked dealership look good. you've probably sold your last car in your hometown because after this thing is over, every pulpit i stand in to preach the word of GOD, my first instuctions to the congregation will be not to attempt to purchase a car from mankalo brantley and cobb chevy because they will rip you off and laugh in your face about it and make you look stupid. they only care about inflating their paychecks!

To anyone wanting a good car, Sure, we know that autosales people are lying... because their lips are moving. Also, there are those that will forgive a company the sin of lying and calling it advertising... yet would go ballistic if their friends treated them the same way. If you really want to be careful, then find a mechanic that will test drive the car and put it up on the rack and give you his opinion. They usually charge less than $100 and is a good deal... even if you are buying from a dealer if they have a problem with letting you take it to a mechanice than thank them very much for their time and move on. If you want a good car, look for a nice $800 car. The benefits are great! 1) Low cost 2) No payments (at +20% interest) 3) Low insurance 3) If repairs are too expensive but another one 4) Heck, if the car lasts a couple of months you are way ahead on car payments. Each one I have bought lasted me a couple of years and I loved each and everyone of them. Once I go about 6 months with one I pat it on the dashboard and chuckle that it is all gravy from here.

I offered two walk-out prices on two Chevy Avalanches. I had specific VIN#s on these vehicle to distinguish from each other. One was a base model, and one had the Z66 package. I emailed my offers to my salesperson, Tiffaney Small. She called me back 10 minutes later to ask when I could be there. I had to ask her which offer they accepted. She told me her manager like the "bottom one" better. This was the Z66, which I preferred. I arrived at the dealership the next day with cash in hand. The vehicle was on another dealer's lot, so I never got to see it in physical form. They never pulled an itemized sheet to show me exactly what my vehicle would have on it. I checked the financials, and the amount was exactly what I had offered. The fraud though is that they had entered the VIN# for the base model. I didn't think to make sure these matched up, since I would not see the car until the next day. The next day, I called around 2 pm to see why my truck wasn't there yet. The dealership where the vehicle was at was only about a 20 minute drive. I was told they already had another one on the way, so they were going to give me it instead. Never was I told it wasn't a Z66 model. It made me check the contract I had signed, and I then realized they had tried to sell me the base for the price I bid on the Z66. On top of this, they weren't even going to sell me the base model I had bid on. When this was brought to their attention, they claimed an "honest mistake" and told me they'd be losing $3000 on the other deal at this price. Amazingly the two original vehicles were at the same dealership and had a difference of only $1300 MSRP. So apparently they were taking a loss of $1700 on the base model. I was told sometimes dealers are willing to take a loss leader to make a sale and hopefully get the service business over the life of the vehicle. Yeah right! I just went in a got my money back, but I am in the process of filing a fraud claim with the Georgia Office of Consumer Affairs. When I told them that they cost me $1000 in rebates that ran out, they told me there was $1000 in dealer cash offered so it shouldn't matter. Then when I spoke to the GM of the dealership, I got totally different profit and loss numbers. THIS IS A CROOKED DEALERSHIP!! DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!! THEY PICKED THE WRONG GUY TO MESS WITH!!

I have been there also. I know my credit wasnt the best in world, but I came in with a $5000 down payment, they were like "your income can't support your car payment, maybe you should look at a lesser car". I mean what they suggested was ok but they showed me something that wasnt worth the money I had and said "you will need an additional $2000 down to get this one your looking at and have the same payment your looking at". I was like "ok, need $7000 plus tax, tag and title right?" They were like "no, you will need at least $3000+ more", hell the car was only $12,500 if I put down $8000, why would I need to finance it for 36 months???? I am not that dumb on that one, I know how to count!!!! Bottom line there are a lot of dealers out here praying on peoples emotions and intelligence, dont let them fool you into a false sense of security. I did but a car somewhere else, they were straight up with me and also made a better deal on a car that was 2 years newer and not 5 years old than what I wanted and could afford.

I am a consumer that recently bought a car from Cobb Parkway Chevrolet. My credit score was actually much lower than Shawna's. A 495 to be exact. I went in there wanting a Trailblazer and left with an Impala. Is it the exact car I originally wanted, no. However I was willing to be flexible because frankly, my credit sucks. Everyone from the salesman to the finance manager is wonderful and I believe that I got a great deal. They took the time to help me when no one else would. I think that Shawna just had champagne test with a beer budget. I will never buy a car from anyone but Cobb Parkway. Hey Shawna, trying working on your credit instead of blaming everyone else for you turn downs!

Shawna Car dealers use all kinds of scams to get you on their lot. Just take some time and listen to any of your local radio stations. Most of the time the slime ball car dealers will air their disclaimers at the very end of their commercial and try to dump some loud music on top of it so you can't hear all of their "legal Loop Holes" that help them out of any promises they may make to get you on their lot. If car buyers started recording the car dealers deceptive advertisments and sending them to the FTC things would soon change. Go get last weekend's newspaper. Look at the very bottom of any car dealer's add. You will see all of their "Legal Loop Holes" in very small print. Ever ask yourself why their "Legal Loop Holes" are so d**n Small! I my opinion car buyers should start posting the names of the newspapers, radio stations and TV stations that OK deceptive advertising right here on the Rip Off Report. Doing that will change things. Think about it Shawna, Let's expose all of the deception! If the media is willing to OK deceptive misleading advertising, they should be mentioned in the Rip Off Report with the car dealer. Think about it, they are getting paid very well to air or print the deception, Right? Call up your local newspaper and ask how much for a full page color add on a saturday, You will see what I am talking about. Remember we are exposing deception, so all deception must be mentioned, you agree, I hope so. The next thing that really angers me is the credit industry being so d**n secretive about how the credit scoring system really works. The credit industry does NOT want the public to understand how they keep track of your credit score. If you have no idea how the credit system really works, you are easy prey for banks, car dealers, mortgage brokers and many other Rip Off companies. The truth is they do NOT want you to have an insider understanding as to how they score your credit. My fellow Americans, this will soon change, and I will see to it! Car dealers lie to car buyers all the time about interest rates and what banks are willing to give as a "Buy Rate". God forbid if the dealer can't WHACK you for a few points. F&I Sharks would not like it if they did not have any juice coming from the bank. If you want to take a chance to see if your car dealer has ever lied to your bank, try this. Call up your auto lender and ask for them to mail you copies of ALL DOCUMENTATION that the dealer has sent to your lender, including your credit application. See if it is all in your hand writing, I am willing to bet it is not. If you want to see how easy it is for a car dealer to lie to your bank go to this Rip Off Report and read it, and check out the pictures, And read this Victim's complete complaint! http://www.badbusinessbureau.com/view.asp?id=52158 Next, as far as this Mr Fred is concerned. He is only on the dealer's side of the fence. No car dealer's "F&I Clown" or any of their "Lot Sharks" are going to say or do anything to help the car buyer. They might help you into their TENT to have their way with you, but that is about it. They only want to find some way to keep you on their lot until you sign any kind of documentation that will take you off of the market until their "F&I Clown" has a chance to shop your paper no matter how many inquiries your credit will get smacked with. One other thing that car dealers do that really pisses me off, is telling consumers that the best way to rebuild their credit is to go out and GET DEEP into DEBT with one of their depreciating sleds. You do NOT have to go buy a d**n car to start rebuilding your credit, and I will soon prove it. We all must not forget about their stupid "TENT EVENT" sales tactics. They make me sick! We all know what can happen to anybody in a tent if they go camping if the right prophylactics are present with or with out KY jelly. What the hell is so special about a "TENT EVENT"? They all say things like "We have lenders at the "Tent Event" ready to approve you RIGHT NOW! Yea Right, the only lenders you will see is the car dealer's F&I Clowns trying to make you thing they work for the banks. They only work for the car dealers trying to increase their next pay check.

The issue is not Shawna being turned down. It is deceptive advertising of car dealers. It is false advertising to say EVERYONE will be approved when the business knows it is false. If car dealers were honest they would state all requirements in easy to read bold print that does not require a vcr to record and read it.

Turn-down reason

#13Consumer Comment

Sun, June 01, 2003

Please keep in mind that any time credit is requested by a person, & then turned down, the borrower is always allowed by law to obtain a copy of the credit (from the credit bureaus) that was denied. The credit bureau provided to the borrower usually doesnt have a score on it. It sounds to me like Shawna HAS been denied credit before, if she is aware 1) what her credit score is and 2) what a definition of "OK Credit" is. My suggestion is, before making accusation against a company (almost everyone knows that most car ads have the legal mumbo-jumbo in them), is to read the denial reason. It could have been that the borrower income didnt support the car payment that whatever car would have provided (i.e. a company CAN offer financing at 20% rate, based on credit, & the income not support that payment). Keep in mind that good rates DO go to good credit borrowers, and people w/lessor credit shouldnt be entitled to the best rate out there. Nor should anyone offer financing to someone (even if the ad says on one is turned down) knowing they wont be able to make the payments. NO, I dont work for the car dealership, I work for a mortgage company that specializes in offering home loans to customers that would ordinarily turn down.

Hey Fred! Did you read Shawna's complaint or did your masters just tell you what to write? Her beef is that Cobb Parkway is telling people that NO ONE will be turned down, REGARDLESS OF CREDIT HISTORY! And yet it happened! So you're going to blame the banks now for your deception? I'm sorry Fraud, I mean Fred, but that's a textbook example of a RIPOFF! "Let's show them these brand new shiny Chevrolets, tell them that NO ONE is turned down, then when they get here try to pawn these beater trade-ins off on them!" Is that how it works Fred? Hmmmm? Can't hear you...maybe some FRAUD HAMMER ACTION will jog your memory: SMASH! Oww! Painful! Maybe you should have some ads that say "Come waste your precious time while we blame the banks for our deceit!"

unfair comments ..We do not turn people down based on their credit, the banks do that

What you must understand about the car business is that a beacon score really doesn't mean a lot. It is just a guide. Cobb Parkway Chevy is not a financial lending institution. We do not turn people down based on their credit, the banks do that. The costumer's credit worthiness is determined by a number of factors including job and residence time, income, past credit history, banking status, down payment and type of car requested. I have no doubt that Cobb Parkway turned you down on the car you wanted, however I am confidented that if you were truly looking to reestablish credit that they could put you in a car that would meet your needs, should you have some flexibility
