Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I, too, received a letter from the College of Southern Nevada executed by the pen of "Dr." Bradley Gruner regarding CSN's "excessive credit" fees that would be applied to my account.

Background: in 2003 I spoke with a counselor specific for the Registered Nursing Part-Time Program.  I started my quest by completing all of the pre-requisite courses (i.e., Biology I and II, Cellular Biology, Microbiology, Psychology, Sociology, Philosophy, etc) and when it was time to apply for the program I did and was accepted.

During my 1st semester, I experienced a health problem that prevented me from continuing on in the program.  As advised, I withdrew to manage the health issue and when I was ready I reapplied and re-entered the program.  When I reached my 4th of 7 semesters, a different set of problems interferred which prevented my successful completion of the program.

In an effort to recover my tracks, I accepted placement in the LPN program which turned out to be a disaster: the nurse in charge of the program was a catastrophy and had no inclination, talent or idea how to "teach" - only how to "bark".  I jumped out of the program to avoid the risk of continuing further with disasterous results.

Things changed - I decided to move my focus away from the field of nursing and my goal was now to achieve my AA in Psychology.  Happily, I continued taking courses that would help me earn my AAS in Psychology ... but along came Dr. Gruner.

Dr. Gruner has advised me that - as a result of the credits earned during my enrollment in the REGISTERED NURSING program - a limited entry program that has designed courses and prerequisites to satisfy the RN program specifically - that I will now have to pay penalties if I want to continue my education at CSN.  I have FIVE classes remaining until I can graduate ... but now DR. BRADLEY GRUNER who represents NSHE - the nazis of our generation - has tacked on excess fees as a penalty for my attempts to complete the RN program stating "there are far too many students who are taking up seats at the college and not completing the courses with a degree which is preventing those students who are "ready to learn but can't find seats in the class".

Dr. Gruner has made it IMPLICITLY clear that - despite the point that NSHE are trying to make which is to curb those students who are attending classes and taking up seats in some which are small in number from "taking up space" that prevents "serious students" from getting ahead ... even though I DO NOT FIT IN THIS CATEGORY and have made several detailed explanations to he and the staff at NSHE that the LIMITED ENTRY RN PROGRAM that I attended created credits that CANNOT be used towards ANY other degree other than an Associates for RN ... they have lumped me into a very generalized category and don't seem to have the brain cells to understand this.

We have this DR GRUNER person making decisions that are affecting the lives of people like myself who are simply trying to earn a degree to make a better life for our families.  CSN is to blame as well as the staff at NSHE who couldn't find a better way to HELP the students so they decided to PENALIZE them and screw their futures.  They lumped in students who were part of a LIMITED ENTRY PROGRAM earning credits required of them by policy implemented by their respective LIMITED ENTRY PROGRAMS but could care less that the credits earned are now deadwood and can't be used for anything else but mental anguish when one reflects back in history ...

So to say that Dr. Gruner is acting on behalf of or there for the betterment of the student body and higher education is a an untruth.  I would like to also commend those other college entities within our county and State who have not joined the new-age n**i NSHE party and remain to be consistent with the ideals and morale principles that support the very reason why we strive to better ourselves - which is to consistently strive for a better world.

DR GRUNER IS PART OF THE PROBLEM.  Last time I checked, however, he is no longer on their roster.  Regardless, NSHE has refused to revoke the decision that this heinous man brought down on my student ID at CSN levying a heavy weight on my shoulders - as a single mom in this crisis-stricken economy - to cough up the additional money to finish school.  He has screwed me over and unfortunately, whatever misguided directions he sent the department before his not-soon-enough exist from NSHE left a legacy behind that no one at NSHE has the peanut butter to take on.  Sad but true.

There were many fine instructors at CSN - but overall, in terms of management and support, they are lacking in effort and accountability.  I cannot tell you what a nightmare mess it was to get registered and prepared for the RN program.  I leave the rest up to your own experience and imagination.
