Colonial Home Warranty Beware this scam company!! Wilmington, Delaware
Colonial Warranty will use any excuse to deny a legitimate claim. The repairman they sent when my gas furnase would not start determined the cause was a failed control circuit board. When they first contacted me regarding this claim they asked for my written maintenance records on the unit. When I explained that as a mechanical engineer I do my own maintenance but don't keep records they then denied the claim saying the system installed in 1998 was still under manufacturer's warranty because Rheem gave me a limited lifetime warranty on 1 component of the unit, the heat exchanger. The heat exchanger has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with the control circuitry but Colonial refuses discuss this basic fact and will not repair any part of the heating system based on this completely false premise. The claims people appear to be reading a script and endlessly repeat the same responses until you give up in frustration. Don't trust this company.
