After receiving Tivo for Xmas, I attempted to install it. After several hours, I finally phoned Tivo - to learn it is "not compatible" with my Comcast cable box. Phoned Comcast to get the recommended cable box, to be told they don't have it in Baltimore.

When I told Comcast that I needed it to use Tivo, I was told that Tivo was not compatible with Comcast cable in Baltimore. I waited a day and phoned back, got a different person, and was told the same thing. Each tried to sell me the Comcast DVR service, then admitted it, also, is not available in Baltimore!

Great service, eh?

Hello - I was an employee of Comcast Baltimore until about a month ago. I'm not sure where in Baltimore you are located, whether it's in the "city" of Baltimore or the surrounding areas. If you are in the "City", then I'm fairly positive you have DVR boxes available. Due to the age of the city, manyh of the lines have had to be "rebuilt" and the whole of downtown was going through a 'rebuild'. Check back, it may be available now. Just to be clear though, TiVo is a competing product. The techs and Reps (even if they know how) wouldn't be doing Comcast any favors if they told a potential DVR customer that there was a box they should use that would be a better fit to use with our competitor. This all being said, there are plenty of cable customers in the city who have TiVo. Keep this in mind though - if you have an issue with your cable and the tech comes out to repair/look at it, he's not going to do anything to the TiVo. He won't disconnect, reconnect, check or anything the TiVo box. It's like asking Verizon to check Comcast's Voice services just because they are there and you use Verizon for something. So get educated on how to make them speak to each other. They DO - I don't khnow how, but there are people with Cable and TiVo, specifically COMCAST and TiVo. Thanks,
