I was also scammed. I received a letter in the mail and a check. The check was for 4,940.00. Me being stupid believed it. I called the number to activate the check. I talked to Matthew Robinson. The other name on the letter was Amy Taylor. I believed everything that this man was saying. I went to my husbands work and told him everything that was said and he bought it too.
My "agent's" name was Janis Johnson A 610 Ashford Street Brooklyn, New York 11207. I was told to deposit the check and take out 3,150.00 and Western Union it to Janis Johnson. At this point I was like " things are looking up for us now. To be honest I didn't look into it that much. Now, I am kicking myself in the a*s for not.
We went to the Bank Of America and deposited the check into our account. They said since it was out of state check that it would take until May 1st for it to clear the bank. But the teller told my husband that 100.00 would be in the bank at 9:00 the next morning. So, at that point when the bank teller put it into our account we thought that it was good to go. They gave us our deposit slip and we went on our way. The next morning went online and found out that the 100.00 hit the bank. On my husbands way to work he stopped to get gas. Later on he went to the store to get a drink and the gas station declined his card. When he got home he called Bank Of America and they told him that we were 888,640.00 in the rears. We are SHOCKED! We have no prier bills so there couldn't be anything else. We have no idea what we are going to do. I know that we are going to the bank tomorrow and see what they can do . Hell, they deposited a fake check!!
I want everyone to know that this needs to stop. And whoever is behind all of this be stopped. It's not right messing with people's lives like it has. If anyone has ANY information please contact me and we all can get together and settle this so it doesn't happen again.
