Complaint Review: Commuter Cars - Fort Pierce Florida

This company sold me a 1998 Ford Ranger for two and a half times what the value of the truck was. 3 days after I purchased the truck, the AC stopped working, the CD player and radio fell completely out of the truck and on to my lap while I was driving. At the time I purchased the truck the salesperson was told the reason I was trading in my BMW was because I needed working air. THey assured me the truck had cold air and when I test drove the vehicle it did have cold air. What I didn't know was the compressor was cracked and they had put sealent and freon in the truck whenever someone test drove it so it would work for a few days and then the seal would break again and the air would stop working. They knew this when they sold me the vehicle. THe sales person made arrangements for me to make 3 payments of $347.00 each for the next three months but what he actually did was inut in their computer that I was to make bi-weekly payments which I knew nothing about until they repossessed my car one day afer hey claim the last payment of $347.00 was due. They cited I hadn't made a payment in twoo months which was not true because I had actually made two payments in May for May and June. THe last payment was not made because they were supposed to be fixing the broken air which they eventually did but then charged me for that too. In addition, they added on $50.00 late payments every two weeks which I knew nothing about because I never agreed to make bi-weekly payments, in fact it was never even discussed with me. On July 16th, 2015 they came in the middle of the night and took the vehicle. They charged me over $1,100.00 to get my vehicle back together with the late fees and the balance of $347.00. That following Saturday I opened the enveklope I had been given at the time of the sale and discovered that the name on the contract was not mine nor was the vehicle information for the vehicle I had purchased. There was absolutely no paperwork outlining a payment plan or what the payments were to be or when they were to be made. In fact, not one single documet was signed by or on behlaf of Commuter ars. In essence I didn't even have a valid contract with which to seek remedy for the illegal reposession of my vehicle. After filing a complaint with the FL Dept of Hwy Safety, they opened an investigation wherein they expressed multiple violations in the paper work made by Commuter Cars as well as Commuter Cars over charging me for the transfer of the tags. When Commuter Cars was questioned about the over charge they lied directly to the state and told them they had sent me check on 6/3/2015. Said check never existed. In addition, they never sent me the title after the car was paid off and when the investigator told them they had to give me a copy of the title, they actually had to call me for my address to know where to send it. Further prooving what liars they are because how could they send me a check in June and then call me in August for my address. For at least a month now the investigator has been trying to get me my refund to no avail. After thinking about it a bit, I didn't even owe the amount they claimed since they over charged me but of course never mentioned it to me in all the times I had to bring the truck back over the AC problem and over the course of 4 months. That tells me they had no intention of refunding the over payment and if they over charged me on the transfer, you can better beleive there are plenty of other's they have done te same thing to. WHen I called them after they illegally repossessed my car to give them an opportunity to make it right before my taking legal action against them I was told by their "General Manager" if I even mentioned anything legal, the owner Ryan would hang up on me which I found to be very mature and professional. In addition he informed me that Commuter Cars never looses in court. That remains to seen.  Although I have the State of Fl agreeing with me that they had no legal standing to take my car, I can't even file the suit until the state can close their investigation which they cannot do because Commuter Cars will not pay me back the money they over charged me. They keep saying they mailed the check. The old "the check's in the mail" routine. These people are so vile to deal with, so deceitful and just out right liars. The report that man initially filed is 100% on the money. They take old junkers, sell them for way above the value knowing there are mechanical problems and such and then recite the "AS IS" speach. His complaint was almost verbatim what they did to me so how can they chalk it up to a disgruntled employee. Since he described almost every detaill of what this company did to me without ever so much as speaking to me, you have to figure they're doing this kind of thing all the time. How much money do you figure a business with 4 lots can make just on over charging for transfers of titles if they never get caught? They are a dispcable lot and as dishonest as they come. I hope someone, anyone reads this and heeds my warning. I would like to see tis company shut down and unable to do this to anyone else, EVER!
