I strongly believe that ConnectToWork (connecttowork.com) is a running a SCAM and ripping people off. They're definitely NOT a reputable employment agency that I would recommend to anyone. In mid-December, 2017, I applied for a position that they advertised online. It was a work-at-home, Customer Support, live chat position that allowed flexible hours and supposedly paid $25/hour. In order to be considered for the job, an application was needed along with a background check. The background check was not provided, but reimbursement was promised regardless of whether or not you were hired. See https://www.connecttowork.com/back-check-refund

ConnectToWork provided a list of options for the background check. I proceeded to select a company from THEIR list, paid $23.87 to kipip.com for the background check, and successfully completed the lengthy ConnectToWork application process (which included a “blind interview,” aptitude assessment and a 1,000-word essay). Furthermore, I PROMPTLY completed ALL of their requirements.

Though I received a canned rejection letter and was not offered the job, everything was fine until I requested a refund for the background check. I carefully followed their detailed instructions to be reimbursed. I did EVERYTHING they asked me to do, which included submitting a reimbursement request form, a copy of my background check receipt, and mailing my request (to the address they provided) with a tracking number. (They won’t accept an applicant’s refund request by regular 1st Class mail. You must pay an extra fee for a tracking number). Also, you have to email your tracking number to them. I did ALL OF IT! ...And I did everything ON TIME.

According to my U.S.P.S. tracking number, ConnectToWork received my certified documents on January 8, 2018. Today is February 17, 2018. More than ONE MONTH has passed since they received my background check reimbursement request, and I have yet to receive my refund.

On 3 separate occasions, I called the ONLY customer service number they provide to job applicants: (888) 536-4814. The number is DISCONNECTED!!!  Also, I emailed their customer service / H.R. team on 3 separate days ([email protected]). No one has ever bothered to reply.

Is $23.87 a lot of money? No.  ...But it’s the principle of the matter. They promise to reimburse job applicants for their background checks (regardless of whether or not they’re hired for a job), and I haven’t been reimbursed. In addition, my numerous attempts to reach someone at their office for an update have all failed.

NO REFUND + NO CUSTOMER SERVICE = SCAM!  RIP-OFF!  ILLEGITIMATE!  (Buyers Beware)
