RIPOFF - CONSECO FINANCE TAKES MONEY OUT OF THE WRONG CHECKING ACCOUNT
My son made a check by phone payment on his musicians express bill with a check from his girlfriends checking account in early December 2001.
At the end of December a check was withdrawn from my account with a check number that I had never used which was way out of sequence for my checks.
I had no idea what it was and since my statement comes without cancelled checks I had to order a copy from the bank. When the copy came in it was a check to Conseco Finance.
I had made a payment on his loan with a check by phone from my account a little over a year ago. It appears they disregarded the checking account number he gave them and just used mine since they had it on file.
There was no way he could have given them my number because he doesn't know it. As of today their mistake has cost me almost $900.00 including overdraft fees and I keep getting the run around when I call them saying my account number was what he gave them because they don't want to admit they made a mistake.
I am going to try calling the attorney generals office in both states before I call them again today.
