Copart sold me a clean Canadian title car. I went to register the car in Virginia and found out it was not properly imported and subject to seizure by customs. Copart said no problem they would register it and to send back the Canadian paper work. Copart then sent me a salvage vehicle title. Copart replied with a statement that I should've known the title would've got salvage due to the repair column estimate in their auction screen. I have bought tons of clean title cars from them with repairs estimates higher then the value of the cars (blown motors/transmissions/body) from copart and never had a problem with them. The one time I trust them with a foreign title I get swindle. We could go through their website for hours showing clean title with repairs higher. Bottom line is they advertise to the public having over 17000 clean title cars in auction. I paid 50 dollars to Experian title check to confirm what copart was representing. Copart made a mistake in the paper work process and refuses to take responsibility for it. You cannot go around selling a car as a clean title and then pull this. I foolishly trusted them because of their size and previously represented cars. I will never touch a foreign title again. Please help me get some resolution or I will have to reengage my nc law firm Davis and Hubert in Mebane.

Point blank they represented the car as clean title I had no idea the car would have to have been brought into US safety standards along with import taxes paid. I was a being a nice guy and let copart try to save themselves 4500 from properly importing the car and bringing it into US safety compliance and this is how they treat me. Federal law states you cannot sell someone a car without properly importing it and is a federal crime to sell a car this way ,coparts response to this is they said they didn't import the car. Doesn't matter who or what imported the car bottom line is they represented the car and should have done their due diligence which I believe they did and that's why it was sold to me with a Canadian title because customs stated my car and about 10 others are a rare breed of cars made just for the Canadian market and really expensive to convert to us safety standards. Please help!!
