Hi Carol, I share your opinion! To keep you in the drivers seat, you may want to get a copy of your credit report, and send them a letter in writing of a request for fees a.k.a. proof of debt, by Federal law they have to respond in 20 business days. Any problems with that you can contact the Attorney General and Consumer and Industry Services, Office of Financial and Insurance Services and file a complaint. Most of all, never assume they are doing things legitimate, be your best advicate and make them do their job. Keep a journal and take notes of who, what, when and where.They are a debt collector and a loan servicer, don't forget that.
