Over the course of about 9 - 10 months, Cox Communications billed us for equipment that we didn't have. We were getting charged $8.95 a month for a third cable box that had been turned in. In late June, early July, I asked what was on the account as our bill had reached $153.00 a month.

I was somewhat concerned.

Among other things (which ~were~ taken care of properly) I found out that we had been charged for the above-mentioned third cable box for over 10 months.

After having been hung up on several times and treated like a 5 year old for asking for a retroactive payment to be credited to our bill (after the customary 3 month limit - a grand total of $26.85 (the actual credit

given was $25.37 - they even cheated on that, it seems.)) I was finally told that 3(three) months is all the credit toward the account they can offer! I was blamed for not having checked the bill properly!

Have you ever looked at a bill that has remained somewhat static for a number of years? You get to the point where you simply pay the thing, and don't look too closely.

Maybe I ~was~ at fault, but by not giving a simple credit, much less than the amount due on a monthly bill, they join the ranks of greedy, money-grubbing hacks that would rather see the immediate bottom line go up than to give proper service.

SHAME on you Cox cable. Your rep as a poor company is seemingly well deserved.

Cox Knowingly over bills

As the spouse of a military man, I have lived in many Cox areas. They will knowingly over bill your account. There are no checks and balances. The customer service at the centers blame the customer service in the call center who blame the sales reps who blame the........weel, you all get it. It's called pass the buck. Legally Cox has to credit you for 6 months. Contact the corporate office in Atlanta and give them a BIG stink. You will get your credit. I also want to note that Cox Cable in Hampton, Virginia is pitiful. But, if you need help there ask for Connie. She helped me out quite a bit. She corrected my bill, for 11 months of over billing for returned equipment and I got my promised credits. She works for Cox, but is now at the Pembroke Mall location instead of the call center. Go see here. She does what she promises.
