CR & Associates called and said they have a credit card of mine that is 10 years old that I need to pay. The person's name is Willy or Willie Mason and she said if I don't pay it they will turn it into the IRS and then I would have to go to court and probably jail. This just happened this last Friday Oct. 10, 2008.

After I gave them all the information they needed to pay the bill, I got off the phone I called my husband and he says something does not sound right that they can't do that to me. My mom also said the same thing. I then looked up the companies name on the internet and found out they are scamming me. So, I am going to call my bank and put a stop payment from that company. So, I am hoping and praying that I will beat them before they get my money.

First of all, do you owe any LEGITIMATE debts? Sounds like they may have gone into co llection. HOW did they get your mother's telephone numbeR ID because ALL collection services have them. IF you don't know what a caller ID is, get your husband to explain it to you. GET AN UNLISTED AND AN UNPUBLISHED TELEPHONE NUMBERS and ONLY employers get it. NEVER,EVER give out your FINANCIAL INFORMATION ON THE PHONE OR PUT IT ONLINE! I don't care if they say they are a hitman and if you give it to them they won't kill you --ANOTHER SCAM. You can always hang up on a VOICE ON A PHONE--THEN call the phone company and get your unpublished and unlisted number. You need to call your bank and tell them that there are scamsters who may have gotten your bank account number off a deposit sheet and you want personal approval over all withdrawals from your account. In a word, you want it flagged for possible fraudulent activity. And you need to see about getting another bank account and closing that one OUT. If you are easily intimidated, get yourself an answering machine at Radio Shack, a Pawn shop wherever and DO NOT PUT YOUR NAME AND TELEPHONE NUMBER ON IT. I used to like to get a comedy answering machine message and not even my real voice so they might get a rapper or a dude with a Mafia-type accent or even an answer in a foreign language ( I wouldn't recommend Arabic;it's not too cool right now) I would have a friend record a generic greeting like:"We can't answer the phone right now. Please leave a message at the tone." AND NEVER GET FAMILY INVOLVED IN ANY OF YOUR BUSINESS BECAUSE THEY MAY GIVE YOU UP AND NOT REALIZE WHAT THEY DID! Your Mom might want to consider an unpub lished, unlisted phone number because I suspect these vermin are going to keep hounding her. Another alternative to an answering machine is to play a recording of "The Sounds of the Haunted House' when you don't recognize the voice at the other end. I personally LIKE to hear people crying and screaming when they call my house and disturb me --AND NEVER CALL AGAIN but this is your phone and your situation. Only you know what is good for you.

You might have to cancel your checking account to stop them from taking money out. I'm guess that they've already done this. Call your bank the second it opens for business tomorrow.... FYI: Debt collectors have NO legal power over you whatsoever...they cannot have you arrested...neither can they send a SWAT team to your house to take your firstborn child.... This debt is outside the statue of limitations...they have no power over you ==================== Send them a letter via Certified Mail + Return Receipt stating: Per the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, cease communications with me about this alleged debt. ------------ DO NOT speak with them on the phone...only bad can come from it....
