I was contacted by Bryan Ashton at (323) 315-6340, Senior Loan Officer for Credit Karma, on August 2, 2016 to tell me I was approved for a personal loan in the amount of $5,000. Mr. Ashton told me the loan was contingent upon me securing insurance with a $200 payment in the form of an Amazon gift card. Mr. Ashton sent me a commitment letter that gave the terms of the loan. Mr. Ashton confirmed that he received all the documentation needed from me to process my loan. Mr. Ashton also guaranteed me that the funds would be deposited into my account within 2 to 3 hours’ time. This never occurred.

I was then contacted by Megan Fields at (209) 565-3270, Accounts Manager, that there was an issue with my transfer and another $249 was needed to process the loan. Per Ms. Fields it was a federal issue but that Credit Karma was going to be responsible for the fees that were due the government. Ms. Fields requested I get two Amazon gift cards for $125 & $124 and email copies to her, but told me the $249 was to be refunded to me by with the $5,000 within an hour. This never occurred.

Finally I was contacted by David Matthew at (323) 593-5191 & (323) 325-4833, Senior Head for Accounts Department. Mr. Matthews told me the FRB Department was blocking the $5,249 from being deposited into my account.  Mr. Matthews said to avoid any further delay; he would be sending my funds via money gram. Mr. Matthews says the money gram fee would be the obligation of Credit Karma but that I had to pay it and would get the money refunded to me. I purchased two Amazon gift cards for $115 to pay the $230 money gram fee. Mr. Matthews told me he did two transfers in the amounts of $3,000 & $2,249 and I was given a money gram reference number of 784173CK. When I contacted money gram I was made aware this was not a correct reference number. I immediately got Mr. Matthews on the phone and told him I did not appreciate the fraudulent behavior and wanted a full refund of the $679 that was paid by me to obtain a loan from Credit Karma. Mr. Matthews said he would cancel my loan and refund me the $679 immediately. As of today, this never occurred.

Credit Karma Loans has fraudulently taken (5) Amazon Gift cards from me for: $200, $125, $124, $115, & $115 for a total of $679. I was told I was approved for a $5,000 loan that would be deposited directly into my bank account by August 9, 2016. I have not received any money from your Credit Karma. The money that I was promised would be returned to me today for $479 has not been credited to my account. Bryan Ashton, Megan Fields, and David Matthew have all participated in this con. Credit Karma is in breach of the contract effective August 2, 2016. Since you have breached the contract, I am due the $200 insurance payment. The $200 was contingent on me receiving the funds and since I did not receive the funds the contract is null and void. No one has returned my phone calls nor answered my emails. I have included copies of correspondence between myself and the three people that claim to work with Credit Karma. Please do a full investigation into this matter and contact me with the results.
